✨My @metaopenarts mural, “contour lines of Redmond and the interconnectedness of the universe” is complete! What a journey from start to finish. Lots going on including getting ready for the Seattle Art Fair (next week! Shift Gallery Booth B01) and working hard on my painting for the Surge show at @museumnwart - in the midst of all of that, an artist in my building is moving and I inherited her table which prompted me to not only organize my studio to make room for the table, but to also paint over the mural on my wall. It was practice for the mural I made for the library in the Amazon Doppler Building. Mural is now gone and I’m back to work with a little more quiet space in my studio. #studiolife by @kareykessler

I spent all day Wednesday in the North Cascades with Dr. Jon Reidel doing research for my Surge project for the Museum of Northwest Art. Jon was giving a lecture about the geology of the area to summer guides at the @ncascades and I tagged along. Creating one of my map-paintings using real maps and real data is a challenge for sure! More posts to come about my work with geographer Dr. Innisfree McKinnon creating a unique contour map of the Skagit watershed to use as my base map @museumnwart #maps #mapart by @kareykessler

I recently received photos of my mural in the Amazon Doppler Building Library (thank you @jamesharnoismedia). I love that one half of my mural is wedged between a living plant display and a wall full of books. And the other half of the mural is between the bookshelf and a window looking out at the trees and the sky. I read a lot. And while I’m reading, I write down words and ideas that then show up in my paintings. So much of what I read and write about is our relationship with the natural world that is not only around us but within us as well. The Doppler Library is a quiet space in a building filled with commerce and competition. Thank you Caitlin Olson and Amazon for giving me the opportunity to create a subtle distraction to the hustle and bustle and intensity of the everyday activities in that building.@plantsofamazon @caitlinolson206 by @kareykessler

If you live in Philadelphia, near Philadelphia, or know someone in/near Philadelphia you should check out this new restaurant that opened yesterday in Chestnut Hill: The Blue Warbler. Not only does the food sound amazing, but my artwork adorns the walls (you can see in the picture). Thank you to Fred Mogul and Adrienne Teleki for inviting me to show my artwork in your lovely space. I can’t wait to visit and eat lots of delicious food! My studio, 307, will be open this Saturday, June 06, 2026 12pm - 4pm during the Building 30 West Open Art Studios event in Magnuson Park.
