Today marks my very last day as the owner of Tulipe Noire Clothing. I’m not going to lie. It’s hard.

After 21 wonderful years, it is a truly bittersweet day. To be honest, I’ve shed a few tears and I feel a bit wistful, perhaps even a little numb. Closing this chapter feels like both a loss and a celebration. It’s hard to let go of something that has been such a huge part of my life for over two decades.

At the same time, my heart is full of gratitude and pride for everything built here, the incredible community that supported us, and the beautiful connections made along the way. I feel deeply blessed to be passing the torch to someone who will carry the boutique forward into its next chapter. Thank you Bethany Frei

Life is built on these transitions, nothing lasts forever, and that’s okay. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this 21 year journey.

Here’s to honouring where we’ve been, and stepping gracefully into whatever comes next. Tears are nature’s healers. Let them flow.

Today on my birthday I’m asking my FB friends to think about humanity, children & families and the 80+ programs at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre.

End of a long week, and the perfect way to recharge: a 50 minute Pvolve workout.
This incredible routine combines ballet, Pilates, HIIT, weight training, yoga, and functional movement in a way that challenges both body and mind. With amazing instructors, great music, and such a beautiful welcoming environment,
I am really enjoying being part of the P.volve community.
Founded in New York City and now expanding across the United States, P.volve has two locations in Canada, including Calgary and, lucky for me, Victoria.
I am especially excited for the upcoming P.volve and Lululemon partnership fundraiser on the rooftop of the Hudson Block at Fisgard and Blanshard. Even more meaningful, this event will support the Victoria Native Friendship Centre and the important work we do in our community.

My favourite thing to do on a Saturday is go to the library and a couple of local bookstores. Yes a cafe and my gym rank up there too and maybe a movie theatre. But the library has always been my favourite place to sit and just be quiet and space out for two hours. Do I look a bit spacey? Good. taken in Oak Bay, British Columbia by @kari.mclay

My boutique Tulipe Noire Clothing is Open Today. On this July 1 we choose to acknowledge history, culture and the importance of equality, justice and kindness. Rather than close, we choose to open our doors and donate 100% of our Sales to the Victoria Native Friendship Centre - VNFC. I make this choice with the blessing and memory of my late friend Darrel McLeod, who always encouraged, celebrated and supported my philanthropic ideas and my mission to be a responsible social entrepreneur. Life is a collection of chapters, beginnings, endings, loss, joy, and unexpected grace. This weekend, slowing down with my daughter reminded me that the most meaningful moments are often the quietest ones. Just be present. The rest will unfold as it’s meant to.
