Nobody tells you that opening a new category means you’re selling the problem before you ever get to sell the product.

When I talk to performance staff about GoodPhyte, most of them have never heard the word phytase. They already know about protein, creatine and electrolytes. Absorption hasn’t been part of the conversation yet.

This week I talked about what it takes to earn a seat in the sports world as a brand: getting the regulatory work right, getting NSF Certified for Sport, and paying what compliance actually costs. That part isn’t glamorous, but it’s the price of being in the room.

Athletes can eat well and supplement well and still not absorb the iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, amino acids and protein they think they’re getting. A coach sees that as fatigue, slow recovery, or a player who just seems a step off, and nobody can say why. Often the answer isn’t more nutrients. It’s whether the body can use the ones already there.

That’s the conversation I want to have with teams: not “buy our product,” but “have you looked at absorption?”

Building a category is slow. You educate first and sell second, and you get far more “huh, I never thought about that” than you get yeses. I’ll take that. It means the door is open.

If you’re on a performance staff, whether you’re a dietitian, S&C coach or athletic therapist, I’d love to hear from you. Is micronutrient absorption on your radar yet, or is it the blind spot I think it is?

A little about my background and my passion to connect with athletes.

Micronutrients are the catalyst to performance and recovery.

Stop 🛑 chasing more.
Start absorbing better.

Your body always keeps the score.

It’s not about stacking more, it’s about accessing nutrients already found in your whole foods diet.

Hard days are the easiest to skip.

3 things that get me to the gym when my brain says NO.

1. Inspiration from people doing the work.
2.Nourishing my body so it wants to move.
3. Just going - it’s that simple

Never regretted a workout! Always the one I didn’t do.

This is how I show up for everything-partnerships, building GoodPhyte, life.

Discipline isn’t inspiration, it’s the decision you make when it’s hard.

For most of his life, Tom Renney was known for leading some of the best hockey teams in the world.

NHL head coach. Olympic coach. IIHF World Championship. IIHF World Junior Championship. Former CEO of Hockey Canada.

What many people don’t know is that behind the scenes, Tom was also living with THREE autoimmune diseases.

In this video, Tom shares something deeply personal.

He talks about his experience since starting GoodPhyte just over a year ago, and the difference it has made to his energy, recovery, and overall well-being.

Today, Tom says he feels like he’s 40 again.  (Anyone want to guess how old he really is?  Comment below to tell us how old he looks vs how old he actually is.  We think he looks like he’s in his 40’s as well!).

That doesn’t mean life is perfect. It doesn’t mean every day is easy. It simply means he found something that has genuinely helped him in a big way, and he wanted to share his experience in the hope that it might help someone else—whether that’s an athlete who isn’t recovering as quickly as they’d like, someone struggling with low energy, or a person living with an autoimmune or inflammatory condition.

As someone who has spent his career earning the trust of athletes at every level, Tom doesn’t put his name behind products lightly. His willingness to tell this story means a great deal to all of us.

Thank you, Tom, for your honesty, your courage, and for giving others permission to hope.

Watch his story above.

If his story resonates with you—or reminds you of someone you care about—please like, comment, and share. You never know who might need to hear it.

Three things I’ve learned about myself lately… 🫣

1. Some days I love to yap on camera. The words flow, the energy is there, and I can talk for hours. Other days? I’ve got absolutely nothing. I’ve learned not to force it. @jessijeanhome is teaching me to let it flow!

2. I only started golfing last July, and I’ve completely caught the bug. I love the challenge of learning a new skill, seeing small improvements, and remembering that growth comes from repetition—not perfection.

3. Strength training has been a non-negotiable for over 30 years. It isn’t something I “fit in” when I have time—it’s scheduled in my calendar like any important meeting. Whether I’m at home or traveling, I make it happen because it helps me show up stronger in every part of my life.

I’m realizing that the common thread isn’t motivation—it’s consistency. The habits you keep, especially when no one is watching, quietly shape the person you’re becoming.

Building capacity means I am always getting uncomfortable.

•increase weight
•increase endurance
•time under tension
•experiment with stacking habits
•leaning into learning more

Weighted vest+stairs+ training in the gym after- felt so good. Everyday doesn’t have to be HARD- but it should feel uncomfortable-if you want growth.

I am always leaning in and learning how to push my edges.

My daily deposits in my fitness/health are catalyst in my business goals.

To close the loop on last week:

Three observations from the week.

Observation #1

The best leaders ask better questions than they answer.

Observation #2

Recovery is becoming a performance strategy, not a luxury.

Observation #3

The strongest partnerships always start with curiosity, not a sales pitch.

Iron is essential for collagen synthesis. Your tendons, ligaments, fascia all need iron to repair and build durability. Depleted iron athletes get injured more.

Low iron athletes feel it: sluggish workouts, hitting walls mid-competition, needing longer recovery.

Your body is literally energy-starved at the cellular level.

✅ Iron is essential for oxygen transport through hemoglobin — athletes with optimal iron levels deliver more oxygen to working muscles, directly boosting aerobic capacity and endurance.

✅ Iron is a critical cofactor in mitochondrial energy production — better iron status means more efficient ATP generation, greater power output, and less fatigue when it counts most.

Your training is solid. Your nutrition is clean. So why are you exhausted?

Eating iron-rich foods isn’t enough if phytate — an antinutrient found in grains, legumes, and seeds is binding to that iron before your body can absorb it.

You trained hard. You ate clean. You still feel off.

Check your iron and zinc.
Endurance running depletes both — and plant-based foods block absorption even further.

What you eat matters less than what you actually absorb.

This morning was a mixture of 2 mile run outdoors chasing the sunrise and over to my gym entrance, doors opened wide to crush some stairs. This is my favourite time of year when it comes to strength training and running 💪🏃‍♀️

Stay consistent 🫶

Real-world outcomes matter. Krista @empowerherhealthcoaching has been using GoodPhyte Iron+ for iron deficiency for two years, and the proof is in her bloodwork, not just how she feels.

Iron deficiency doesn’t just show up in labs. It shows up in your energy, your recovery, your ability to show up fully — and Krista felt the shift.

We just wrapped our clinical trials in anemia. The signals are significant. We can’t wait to share what we found.

In the meantime: GoodPhyte Iron+ is NSF Certified for Sport ✅ — verified clean, verified effective, trusted by the athletes and practitioners who can’t afford to guess.
