Today is the official release of the short horror film
🎥 🍿 Mommy It’s A Scary 🫣 👻

Directed by four year old Zoey Ramos

Critics are calling this film a slow burn ode to The Blair Witch Project, delivering supernatural twists and turns in honor of Alejandro Amenábar’ The Others!

“This movie is possessed by pure genius!”
-Stephen King

Fourth piece in the red series.

“in your thirties everything needs fixing. i bought a toolbox
for this. filled it with equipment my father once owned
to keep our home from crumbling...
but what
i’m certain of, is still, the uncertainty of which tools repair
the aging dog, the wilting snake plant, the crow’s feet
under my eyes, the stiff knee or bad back.”

-Karla Cordero, Everything Needs Fixing, © 2021

I started this series to take a break from a rather complex piece. I wanted to start something fun. I thought of WCW’s Red wheelbarrow and the project evolved into a series. There is a limited selection of red objects featured in literature, movies, songs, and art in general that translate well at 1/12 scale. And I really didn’t want to force the expression. The first 3 pieces were inspired by existing prominent red objects depicted in artwork. So, for this piece, instead of starting from an existing object, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be fun to create a tiny toolbox?” And so I reversed the process. I searched for expressions on a red tool box and discovered Karla’s wonderful work.

Today I experienced my first Ross Gay moment with a praying mantis 😏🤌🏽

I can’t tell if he was flirting with me, giving all that leg, or trying to fight me. All I know is that head tilt got me all 😮‍💨🔥🔥🔥🔥

Happy Monday!
