🌟 I am super excited to share my collaboration with the Colorado Avalanche!

They asked me to paint a jersey and hat for Hispanic Heritage Month, with complete creative freedom; if you know me, you know I love birds and using sybolism in my work. I wanted to honor my mixed heritage and acknowledge migration as an important part of our ecosystems.

💫
This 'one of one', hand-painted creation was such a unique challenge! I have never painted on this material before and I am so happy how it turned out.
💫

Thank you Erin for reaching out to have me create this very special set. 🫶🏼

Swipe for some progress shots and a snippet of the painting process.
What a fun and new way to share my art and visions. So grateful!

The hat is up for a raffle and the entire ensemble is currently displayed at Ball Arena to check out.
🏒
You can read more about my intentions at this link here:

Grounded through this grief by the things my students have created.
The heartfelt things they made for Mrs. Beeter.
The compassion and care they have shown the adults in the building. They have been so authentic in their showing of empathy, like I can't even explain it. 😫🙏🏼
❤️‍🩹
My students have given me so much strength these last few days with their hugs, genuine check ins and their love.
When the world makes no sense, I am beyond grateful I have them to remind me of the kindness and beauty that exists.
⚔️
Our school community has shown up in little ways too.
The beautiful ofrenda at the entrance of our school says so much for who Shannon was to us all.
A beloved teacher and friend.
These days (and months) have been heavy but today I am grounded by all these little gestures. by @karmaleigh

It is with a heavy heart I am sharing another huge loss to our Lake Knights family.
⚔️
Yesterday, we lost the OG Beets, Mrs. Beeter.
She was one of my 1st friends at Lake when I started and she always was the best time at after school hangs.
I would check to see if she was attending after school adult hangs, cause if so, I knew we would have so much fun!
She said I was full of "piss and vinegar" which was hilarious and accurate.
She loved helping on our arts night and was the best drink pourer and cookie giver too.

⚔️
Also, a couple of weeks ago, she had my Lake jersey customized for me. She never got to see me wear it though, completely different schedules and floors this year. 😫

The last time I saw her, we waved hello as we both made our way into the building Monday morning. Just a normal day in the castle.

Please send prayers to our Lake community and her husband and kids. We have lost 3 really impactful humans since June and it just feels so unreal.

I am still in disbelief.

Beets, we love you so much 🙏🏼💜 by @karmaleigh

So far in art class!
My 8th graders are making mixed media self-portraits.
I lean heavy on self expression, creativity and being authentic.
The only major requirements are creating a focal point with your portrait, add textures, layers and overlapping. It's a great way for them to explore and problem solve on their own.

It is SO fun to see what they create and how they view themselves 💕 by @karmaleigh

Started as a live painting while @colfax96 was performing a couple years ago.
Slowly finished in the studio earlier this year.
This painting glows in the day and night 🤩
Shown with its proud new owner. 🙏🏼
Included are some progress shots and my trusty side-kick, Charlie (and Dexter!). I had a ton of fun playing with colors and light with this one!
