Bunny Bubbles is a two-faced hybrid between a rabbit from another planet and the actual surface of the moon. She’s gone to live in a new, magnificent home and I wish her all the best! Could we take a few seconds to admire that crazy crater glaze and dripping, luscious porcelain skin? ✨🐰💧💛💖👽

| BIG HEAD, TINY FEET ALERT |
Some studio views from my residency at Shigaraki @air_sccp in Japan. I’m having such a good time working here, surrounded by incredibly talented artists 🥰🫠 and did you know that cheesecake is heavenly in Japan? Eating so well that the theme of my work here is Onaka no oniku - Love Handles. Seriously :) stay tuned for my end of residency show November 25-29: The Love Handles that Existed for So Long that they took on a life of their own. 💋💋 taken in Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park and Contemporary Museum by @kartini.thomas

I’m slightly jealous but also thrilled that this creature got to travel to beautiful Istanbul 🤩❤️ Thank you to the @sevildolmacigallery for bringing her to @contemporaryistanbul !
This piece has so much detail and rich glaze work that she probably feels right at home at the crossroads between east and west. ✨✨✨ by @kartini.thomas

| MUTANT CREATURE ALERT |
A collision between a lemon mousse truck and a shipment of candied trees driven by a koala… Hey do you remember those Richard Scarry books with gloriously messy collisions of tiny trucks driven by animals? Which author-illustrators or children’s books have influenced you the most? Please share, I’d love to check them out! ✨❤️ by @kartini.thomas

🔥 Pilchuck Glass School x MOG: Kartini Thomas 🔥

Every summer since 2009, Pilchuck and the Museum of Glass have coordinated to welcome a handful of artists to both Pilchuck’s Artist in Residence program and the MOG Visiting Artists Residency. This collaboration creates the unique and extended opportunity for select artists of other mediums to explore glass, with support from some of the best glass makers and artists in the country and across several state-of-the-art facilities in our region.

During Session 4, June 22 – July 3, Pilchuck welcomed Kartini Thomas as an Artist in Residence. She will be a Visiting Artist at MOG this week, July 8 – 12.

Subscribe to our newsletter using the link in bio 🔗 to read more about Kartini’s residencies next week! And don’t forget to visit MOG this week to watch Kartini work with the museum’s expert team!
