✨GUINNESS WORLD RECORD✨ “The most people performing a choreographed dance online simultaneously.”

It was an absolute honour to not only learn the Tamil Annai Varnam under the guidance of Guru Madurai R. Muralidaran @madurai.r.muralidaran but also work directly with him to organize the initiative with Canadian participants. Regardless of being such a renowned artist, his kind personality, patience and selflessness taught me more than just the art form. It was a life-changing experience to work under his guidance. Thank you to my guru @renukavigneswaran for encouraging me to take part in this challenge and for her constant support. And thank you to my family for their years of dedication. Congratulations to all the participants!

Congratulations to our Teacher, Selvi Kashmia Balabaskaran, and Senior Student, Selvi Kuberaka Kumareswaran, on being honoured with the title:

✨ “NAATYA KALAAJOTHI” ✨

Our sincere thanks to Vijayakumaran Iyer and Varisithi Vinayagar Temple for recognizing and celebrating emerging talent. This recognition reflects their continued dedication to supporting the Toronto Bharathanatyam community and nurturing the next generation of artists.

At Kalai Aruvi, we are especially proud to have nominated students who have completed their Arangetram and remained dedicated to our academy for many years, continuing to teach, mentor younger students, and contribute to our growth.

We are also proud to recognize our Senior Teacher, Smt. Koushika Lukas, and Senior Student, Selvi Brinthavi Sivarajasingham, who were also nominated for this honour.

To make the evening even more special, our junior students had the wonderful opportunity to perform as part of the celebrations.

Congratulations to all the students who received this honour!

A jathi excerpt from my Navaratiri performance ✨ Felt good to do a temple performance after a while, and that being an Amman performance at a Durgai Amman temple.

Wait for Shivan’s entrance 👀. Never thought I’d stage a performance that gets the audience cheering in the middle. My mom heard this song during a random drive and said, “Don’t you feel something when you listen to a song like this?” - That feeling resonated with the audience, leaving us showered in congratulations for days.

I was delighted to choreo and stage Siva Sivayam for @kalaiaruvi ‘s Silver Jubilee, with my parents in the audience and my guru @renukavigneswaran at our stage side witnessing the audience cheering us on. These girls stepped out of their comfort zone BIG TIME and pulled through. During rehearsals, we joked about having the audience cheer in that moment of the dance… but then it actually happened and you can see the “we did it” moment in my face. This is one for the books 📚

Thank you to @renukavigneswaran for giving me the opportunity to choreo for a stage and audience like this 🥹🙏🏼
