If you have a full time job supporting your family, my guess is you can’t really spend 10 hours a day alone in your closet with God or your whole family would be neglected and you couldn’t pay rent. What you might have is a lunch break or maybe the opportunity to wake up a little earlier and you’d also be able to talk to God throughout your day doing your job with Him. God sees our heart - the woman with the small coin gave less in terms of money. But she gave way more in terms of the heart. What do you have? Give that.

My guess is if you’re breathing, you’ve either experienced suffering of some sort or seen someone else experience it. God didn’t offer an explanation for suffering but rather offered Himself - the Cross was His response. He entered into the worst this world has to offer, endured it and conquered it. As someone who has physically suffered a majority of my life, I thought an explanation would bring me peace. But what I’ve found is that the real peace I’ve been looking for is Jesus - with me in the suffering. I’ve been reading this series by a pastor named @darrenr from @garden.church called “Why Does It Hurt?” He has this one article about this question that never fully resolves and that the Cross is God’s answer. I’ve been given lots of speeches in people’s attempts to comfort me but this article brought relief and joy that I can’t explain. Circumstances change all the time. God choosing to be with us doesn’t change. Regardless of what happens to me, Jesus is here with me. He doesn’t look away when things are painful but instead leans in. Feels it. Carries it. Comforts. Listens. Answers. Embraces. Suffering on this earth won’t go away until He dries every tear from our eyes on the day He returns. But in the meantime - we have a friend in Jesus who, I might add, does heal, restore and deliver. Whether we’re waiting or rejoicing - we have Jesus - the greatest gift there is. by @kasiebrennt

No matter what situation you’re in, there’s always someone you can serve. I’ve battled severe diseases almost my entire life and it’s easy to keep my eyes fixed on isolation, pain, fatigue, anger, physical limitation etc etc etc. Jesus, in His worst moments of pain and agony, was still focused on people. With His last breaths He forgave, He prayed for those who killed Him and He made sure His mom was taken care of. I’m discovering that the more I focus on myself, the more miserable my circumstances feel. But when I look to Him who set the example, suddenly I can see the people around me that need a miracle too and I’m filled with His love for them.
