Two good friends from Colombia lost their family home in the earthquake that happened last week. Their parents' home, the home they grew up in, was destroyed, and their grandparents' home, partially destroyed. They haven't heard from their cousin 💔

The last several years, they've both been navigating the US immigration system, a system that has caused so much stress and harm. And now, amidst these conditions, their sole focus is getting their family what they need to rebuild and recover.

The last few weeks especially, I have been so encouraged and overwhelmed by community showing up in different ways, supporting each other, and having snippets of joy amidst what feels so heavy. This feels and is heavy - AND I know, together, we can help make it feel a little lighter for this dear family.

@amjad._family *finally* had surgery. His infection was treated and shrapnel was removed from his other leg. He was discharged yesterday — without pain medication, because he cannot afford it. He is in a lot of pain. Thank you to those who show up over and over 🫀 Even $1 helps.

I am Amjad, 20 years old, from Gaza. I lost my feet as a result of a serious injury while trying to make a living for my family. My injury was not the end of suffering, but it was the beginning of greater pain. After amputation, a new suffering began, as bacteria spread inside the bone in my amputated foot, and the pain accompanied me at every moment of unbearable pain and long sleepless nights, and a constant fear that my health condition will deteriorate worse day by day, and inflammation threatens what is left of me in the absence of sufficient medical capabilities for my treatment. Here. The doctors confirmed that I urgently need to travel abroad to receive treatment before it is too late. I do not ask for much, just an opportunity for treatment, an opportunity to live a decent life, and be a support for my family again instead of being a burden to them. I appeal to everyone who has the capacity to help and every humanitarian actor to stand by me in this ordeal. My life today is hanging with hope and hope for you. two days ago we found out that our beloved little sister Majd, has what could be small pox. She has blisters on her skin, a high fever, and isn’t eating. the Palestinian health ministry published a report on Friday that G4za “faces looming epidemic risk as rodent spread worsens amid environmental collapse”. hey all ❤️ amjads account continues to be disabled. His 11 year sister, Majd, is sick and in need of medication. She has been itchy, had a fever, and not eating. The goal is to raise $2,100 to cover the cost of food, medicine, and fluids.

amjad is in a lot of pain, his leg is severely inflammed, and he urgently needs to buy more medication- he hasn't taken it the last 2 weeks. @4amjadandfamily

MUTUAL AID REQUEST!

I’m raising funds for my good friend. She’s a mom of 3, compost star, and amazing community connector. Her van recently broke down and needed significant work to keep it running. The van is used for so many things - bringing her kids to work and school, transporting food scraps/compost, and collecting and redistributing items within the community, including to food not bombs. Contributing will help my friend pay for the work she needed to get done to keep this community van in action!

it's a rough time for many of my loved ones but i am trying to hold on to what i know: the knowledge that we need each other & the warmth i feel when i let myself be cared for.

as conditions worsen for many of us in the belly of the beast, the need for ppl in gaza continues; as the ceasefire continues to be a lie, amjad is still living with the pain of losing his leg every day. he is still deeply in need of support, both to survive day to day life but also to medically evacuate

Thank you everyone who came out to our yard sale last weekend! We raised $625!! Though we didn’t meet our goal, combined with additional GoFundMe donations we were able to send $1200 to @4amjadandfamily, who had a successful surgery this week. We know times are tight for everyone and appreciate the generosity of every person who came by. Amjad was on video chat with us for a lot of the day, which was special!

We continue to fundraise, and to pursue a medical evacuation for our dear friend to receive treatment and be fitted for a prosthetic. Please share his story, engage with his posts, and donate if you’re able (link in bio).
