Introducing 'the soft world, hewn' by Katarina Lalic at Sister.⁠
⁠
Discovered through our Open Call, @katarinalalic_ is a London-based painter and Central Saint Martins graduate.⁠
⁠
This new collection is an ode to the natural world in fragments. Mountains, megaliths, dirt roads and the patterned surfaces of shells become part of Katarina’s internal archive - gathered, obscured, reworked and dissolved through paint.⁠
⁠
Working predominantly in oil, she builds each piece through dense layers, vigorous brushstrokes, scraping and reworking. The result is a series of imagined environments that feel both familiar and strange, inviting viewers to find their own place within them.⁠

‘Palomar mountain’ available on @partnershipeditions

Based on a mountain ridge in California, ‘Palomar mountain’ is an ode to the vastness of its thick pine forest and the light that peeks through.

I have known @georgiaspray since I was lucky enough to join @partnershipeditions two years ago and I can honestly say there is no one better to have written a book like this. Georgia has helped me navigate my practice in this hectic art world and I am ecstatic to have had my works, and a few words about my practice, featured in her new book alongside a great group of artists.
