Is posting sunset pics still basic, and/or do we now live in a post-basic era of earnestness? Asking for a friend... taken in Gloucester Stage by @katczhoudesign

This week, two years ago, would have been the opening of my MFA thesis, a production of THE EMPIRE BUILDERS, adapted by me and directed by @thopete. Like many other plays scheduled for spring 2020, it did not open in-person as intended, and I ended up spending April 2020 figuring out how to present my work via iMovie and Zoom...

Posting about it now because even last year, the feeling of loss still felt too present to fully reflect on the project (even as I felt guilty about mourning something so seemingly trivial compared to everything else that was going on).

Looking back on how I depressed and existentially lost I felt in the months/year following my thesis, I'm incredibly grateful now to be back at work and feeling my creativity & passion slowly come back to life. Here's to hoping that things only continue to get better from here on out!

(Besides Thomas, big thanks to the wonderful performers @eliyasmith @zr.wade @e_ogbeide @withabraham @marvinmerritt--hope we get another chance to work together!) by @katczhoudesign
