5 THINGS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THROUGH THE HELP OF GOD

For over 10 years, God has given me the grace to turn my journey with sickle cell into a mission of service, advocacy and hope.

1. I have advocated for Sickle Cell for over 10 years.
I have used my voice to create awareness, educate communities and speak for warriors who sometimes feel unseen and unheard. What started as a voice became a mission.

2. I have taken Sickle Cell advocacy into communities.
Through the Obadof Foundation, I have reached communities, educated families and reminded warriors that they are not alone.

3. I created the Warriors Voice Sickle Cell Conference.
God gave me the vision for a platform that brings warriors, healthcare professionals, advocates, policymakers and allies together. More than a conference, it has become a voice and a movement.

4. I helped facilitate free health insurance for Sickle Cell Warriors in Kogi State.
By God's grace and through the Obadof Foundation, I have contributed to making healthcare more accessible because advocacy should go beyond words. It should also open doors.

5. I survived what should have broken me.
I have faced surgeries, months on oxygen, unconsciousness, hospital stays and moments when I did not know what the next day would bring. There were times I had no strength left to fight, but God kept me.

When I look back now, I don't just see the hospitals, pain or difficult seasons. I see grace. I see a God who kept making a way. I see Him continuing to write my story.

Everything I have accomplished reminds me that my life is not held together by my strength alone.

My life is God's assignment.
My story is God's testimony.
My survival is God's grace.

This September, as we mark Sickle Cell in Christ Awareness Month, WIC is choosing to tell stories like Kate's. Stories that acknowledge the reality of Sickle Cell, but don't end with the diagnosis.

Christ remains at the center.

A historic milestone for the sickle cell community in Kogi State. Yesterday, 15th July, we successfully distributed the first batch of Health Insurance cards to enrolled persons living with sickle cell disease. This marks the beginning of access to free healthcare for many warriors across the state.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Kogi State Government and the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency for making this life-changing initiative a reality. Together, we are giving hope, improving lives, and ensuring that no warrior is left behind.

This is only the beginning.
