What do we think, church kids? Is it chic, yes or no? by @katejohnsonwrites

I’m a Bi Exvangelical Christian, pastor’s daughter, and religious trauma survivor.

These 5 beliefs tend to tell people pretty quickly whether my content is for them.

1. God ≠ male
I believe in God. I don’t believe God is a man in the sky. I believe the Divine is bigger than any one gender.

2. Born beloved
I believe in sin. I don’t believe we’re born depraved. I believe we’re born beloved children of God.

3. Faith + queerness
I don’t believe queer people have to choose between their faith and their identity. I never found that requirement in Jesus.

4. Context matters
I believe in the Bible. I don’t believe every verse should be ripped from its historical and cultural context and used as a weapon against marginalized people.

5. Undoing hell on earth
I believe the Gospel is about liberation, justice, compassion, and restoration (not just escaping hell someday, but helping undo hell on earth right now.)

If these resonate with you, follow along. If they don’t, that’s okay too. ❤️ #exvangelical #deconstruction #religioustrauma #queerchristian #pride🌈 by @katejohnsonwrites

What’s the most unhinged thing you believed growing up in church?

These are the things I’m embarrassed to admit I believed growing up as a pastor’s daughter in evangelical culture in the 90s and 2000s. 😅 If this is you too, let’s be friends.

Did anyone else wake up feeling a strange sense of…. hope? Everything is going to be ok. Thanks, Dolly 💅🙏. #midterms #exvangelical #dollyparton #electionday #bluewave by @katejohnsonwrites

How are you feeling about this the Midterm Election? Just because a race isn’t called tonight doesn’t mean something went wrong. Often, it just means that the counting is still going on. Here’s why different races have different results:
* Some states process mail ballots before Election Day, others have to wait until Election Day
* Counties vary in size, staffing, and how many ballots they have to count
* Provisional ballots, cast when eligibility can’t be confirmed right away, have to be reviewed
* Some voters get a chance to correct a problem with a mail ballot, like a missing signature
* Military and overseas voters have special protections and deadlines
* In some states, ballots postmarked by Election Day can still arrive after Election Day and be counted

Every vote is important. It’s hard to wait, but the results are slow on purpose. Save and share with the other anxious babes this election night 💅 #midterms #election2026 #electionnight #exvangelical #deconstruction by @katejohnsonwrites

Something historic just happened: Evangelicals and Catholics just agreed on something.

On October 13, 2026, the co-chairs of the Evangelical Catholic Dialogue on immigration released “A Call for Christian Compassion and Wisdom in the Immigration Debate.” The leaders called for due process, immigration AND practical legal pathways centered on family unity and human dignity.

Comment “historic” andI’ll send you the statement.

All the things that went wrong when I went to vote early today:
- I made a wrong turn
- My car got a flat tire (which the poll worker helpfully pointed out)
-The line was long

All the things that went right:
-I voted!
- I got a rotisserie chicken after

This is why it’s so important to vote early. I can’t imagine if all this had happened Election Day trying to get to the polls during or after work. If you want the dog days to be over, get out and vote for change! Many elections are determined by just a handful of votes. You never know what could happen, so go vote! #earlyvoting #voting #midterms by @katejohnsonwrites

As a pastor’s daughter, I’m not saying had a bad childhood... but there was that one time I was accused of witchcratt.

36% of the country’s eligible voters didn’t vote in the 2024 election. And that’s why I won’t shut up about voting early in-person for the midterms this year. Comment Vote and I’ll send a link to find your early voting site or check iwillvote.com.
Here are some Feminine hobbies for biblical Christian women these Midterms.💅
-Mary’s magnificat rebelled against empire
-Esther stood up for the oppressed
-Mary Magdalene preached truth even when the men around her doubted
-And Jael…well Jael had a hobby too

Again and again in the Bible, we see patriarchy, oppression of women and minorities, and empire as the opposite of the gospel.

Voting counts as a feminine hobby too 💅

Early voting ends November 3rd! Go out now and let your voice be heard.

We’re tired. We’re angry. And we are done.

We are done with a church that values our labor but not our voices. We are done with a church that protects power and patriarchy over women’s humanity and dignity.
This is only 10/14 things from the Master List of Sh*t Exvangelical and Christian Women are done with.
