Excited for hang time with @pataustindesign this evening! We have a lot to celebrate including recent press about their office (via @karinemonie) It has been a joy to meet with them in this incredible space.

I’m beaming about all of the talent coming out of Portland. In these pictures I see @pablo.enriquez @shopwilma @pattymeltworldwide and so many others.

NEWS FLASH: Submission portals…work?

Here’s the story behind this @jhldesign @housebeautiful feature: We pitched this project for months. Every editor. Plenty of “not the right fit.” Plenty of silence.

We even emailed the editor who ultimately wrote the story. No response.

Eventually, I told JHL I’d exhausted every PR angle I could think of. They even worked with another consultant to keep pitching. Still nothing. So baffling.

One day @leeeeshybaby (who styled the shoot) somewhat randomly submitted the project through the House Beautiful submission portal - a route that can feel like shouting into the void. A cold call, if you will.

And that’s what worked.

This project was such a transformation. @hollyfreres and I even debated taking it on, but I’m very glad she didn’t listen to me. Huge shoutout to @_lady.lau, who was given this as her first project at the firm and absolutely crushed it.

A project is not ready to shoot if it doesn’t have great art. Sometimes this turns in to a beg, borrow, steal situation. 😂 Luckily @miamorossfinejewelry has an incredible art collection and it was at the center of NYC client @atelierrouxdesign’s recently published West Village project. The pattern on these @studioashby upholstered chairs + this gigantic @monikamorito painting = 👏 by @katesullivan.co

8 (eight!) page spread in @ruemagazine for my client @atelierrouxdesign. I am amused by the fact that my most tech savvy, moving-at-the-speed-of-light client waited so patiently for this beautiful, analog issue to come out.

Manon, you work so hard and deserve all the accolades. Huge congrats to my favorite French New Yorker.
