Dear E,
Today would have been your 40th birthday—and I can only imagine the scene.
You’d probably be surrounded by your pitties, you and Steven messing around, and I’d be rolling my eyes while secretly loving it. You’d go for a ride on your bike, and then we’d buy lobsters from S.R. and spread them on the dining room table.
Or maybe by now you’d have a family of your own, starting new traditions .
You had a heart bigger than your appetite—and that’s saying something. Rescuing dogs, especially the misunderstood ones, was your superpower. You gave them love, and in return, they gave you loyalty.
You loved your family fiercely—your brother, your grandparents, your friends. And honestly, with that laugh and that wild sense of humor, it was impossible not to be drawn in by you. And I can only imagine the inappropriate and sometimes irreverent memes you would be posting now.
Nine birthdays without you feels like a lifetime, and I swear sometimes I can hear you in the background making fun of me.
So here’s to you, my beautiful, ridiculous, big-hearted son. Happy 40th. I hope you’re somewhere with a plate of lobster(or a large pie), a cold drink, surrounded by Bubbe and Pop-pop and dogs, and still raising hell.
I love you. I miss you. And I’ll carry you with me always. by @kathilev23
