We lost our beautiful Aunt Rose on Tuesday 12/27/22 she had just celebrated her 91st birthday with family and her favorite chocolate cake a week earlier. She was a spectacular woman in so many ways! She as her beautiful daughter @kathilev23 said at her service yesterday lived a very happy and contented life doing what she loved to do most, loving and caring for her family, immediate and extended. The beautiful service, led by Cantor Martha Novick, with beautiful words from Son Michael (written by his wife), our lovely cousin Karen Lemmerman and of course Kathi. It was a warm December day and we got to revisit our Uncle Seymour who shared a wonderful 60 plus years together with Aunt Rose. Cantor Novick read a beautiful poem, A Rose in December which was beautifully heart felt. "God Gave us memory so that we can have roses in December." --Thomas Merton Memory is a gift. I imagine that living, in any sense of the word, would be difficult to do without a memory. That much is clear. We can call to mind memories at will, particularly the ones vividly burned into our consciousness to the point where we can recall all the senses that were touched by the memory. We remember those less fortunate. We are ourselves remembered by those who love us. This is most fitting for those currently enduring the Decembers of our lives as we all have done and will do. During those dark and cold days when our hearts are weary, when we've lost someone dear to us, when we are overwhelmed by life's blizzards, we must cling to the memories of the sun's warmth and light. Those roses remind us that these storms and cold spells are only temporary. The sun is never really gone, just shining somewhere else for a while. At the close of this year comes, it is a good time to stop and smell the roses. Yes, poignant memories will prick you as you do, however, you will find a rose's fragrance and beauty well worth beholding. Aunt Rose 🌹 we love you so much! You were a blessing in all of our lives and yes in December we will remember you and every other month too! #love #family #remembrance #memories #alifewelllived #aroseaday #aroseisaroseisarose #memorial #laidtorest
