Hungry? ..... what iconic Australian teaparty treat would you go for first?

..... back in the days of the Dewar's Pool Tennis Club, "we ate Gwladys' lamingtons, Sylv's sandwiches and sponges made by Lil" (Doris Martin, 1977).

"The Stork Spoon" ...... a 99% success rate is pretty impressive !!!

The Stork Spoon was "always in demand, particularly if a young unsuspecting couple, newly engaged or married, arrived. Their tea was vigorously stirred with it regardless of whether they took sugar or not, by 'Auntie Sylvia',... the Stork Spoon had about a 99% success rating and produced many offspring in the allotted space of time to any whose tea was stirred with it."
- Doris Martin reflecting on Dewars Pool Tennis Club Days.

When a poem inspires you and you just have to paint !!!

So I've been been looking into the history of a gorgeous mudbrick cottage (ruin) near Toodyay and came across a poem by Doris Martin that just really resonated. This is a little ode to that poem and of days long gone in the 'Dewar's Pool Tennis Club Days'.

🔴 SOLD .... 'Ladies in Lace' series. Thank you to the art lover giving this artwork a new home and supporting @incognitoartshow at the same time! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

The Incognito Art Show is a not-for-profit organisation supporting Australian artists. They run Australia’s biggest and most inclusive art show where every piece of artwork (A5 in size), regardless of artist, is sold for the same price.

The twist? .....the identity of an artwork’s artist remains anonymous. Only once an artwork is bought, will the artist’s name be revealed to the buyer (on the back of the artwork) .... hence I can't show you my artworks until they've sold 😉 (I have 3 in this years exhibition). Profits raised will go towards funding programs that support artists working with disabilities 🫶 taken in Sydney, Australia by @kathyb_art
