POSTS STORIES REELS

Waiting rooms are full of patients holding smartphones. What if they could use those phones to answer intake questions while they wait?

That's what I talked about on ACEP's ED Innovators podcast series. I covered what changes when patients complete intake on their own phones: fewer repeated questions, earlier information for the care team, and more time for clinicians to spend with patients.

Thank you to @acepnation American College of Emergency Physicians & @emicollab Emergency Medicine Innovation Collaborative for having us and for highlighting fellow innovators and new ideas in emergency medicine.

👉🏻 In the ED, you never run a code alone. Someone’s on compressions, someone’s on the airway, someone’s pushing meds, someone’s calling the time. Nobody, no matter how good they are, runs a resuscitation by themselves.

Innovation is the opposite. When you step aside the bedside to build something new, you run the code alone.

From the outside, innovating in emergency medicine looks glorious: the pitch stage, the demo, the big idea. Behind the scenes, it’s not. It’s rough. It’s lonely. Because the moment you decide to do things differently, you become the minority. You’re the one asking “why do we still do it this way?” in rooms full of people who’ve always done it this way. You hear “no” far more than “yes.” And there are nights when you’re not sure if you’re early or just wrong.

What gets you through is the same thing that gets a patient through a code: the team. Friends, family, coworkers, colleagues.

That’s why this group matters so much. The Emergency Medicine Innovative Collaborative is the code team for those of us who started from the bedside to build. It’s a room where being the minority doesn’t mean being alone. by @kathychae

Every patient deserves to be heard, in their own language, on their own terms. Every clinician deserves to provide care with dignity. Born from female immigrant grit, we're putting the focus back on patient care.

Art is near and dear to my heart. So I’m incredibly honored to be one of 200 founders featured in the Diversify: Female Founders in Focus photography exhibit at SFMOMA this May. The energy of this community is incredible: Women building companies, raising capital, and shaping the future. by @kathychae

CyrenCare
Hi all. CyrenCare was established on Jan 26th, 2023. I’m starting an exciting path with an ambitious attempt to help improve emergency healthcare communication. As an emergency medicine specialist and former professor with more than a decade of clinical experience under my belt, I know the problem space well. I decided to leverage my past(time and experience) and use it towards CyrenCare with hope for a better future. For a better personal future, but also for a better future for the emergency medicine work space and patient care.

I’m fortunate to team up with the best talent, and have all the support from friends and family. Will keep you updated.

Life isn't always easy. Sometimes it's hard. It has its twists and turns.

But at the end of the day, after I had this great meal, I was super thankful for being fortunate to have great food with a great person and that itself is something to be truly grateful for.

I've always wanted a place where I could drink and work at the same time. They did it. They renovated an old bathhouse to create a place where you can drink, work and chill.
