“Instead of saying ‘I don’t have time,” try saying ‘it’s not a priority,’ and see how that feels.”

Time-use expert Laura Vanderkam dropped a whole bunch of truth bombs on us during last night’s Expert Talk.

💣 Think of time in terms of 168-hour weeks, not 24-hour days
💣 Track your time to see where it’s really going
💣 Let go of other people’s judgments of how you spend your time, especially if that gives you permission to outsource some of the household labor sucking up your time
💣 More people hire lawn care than house cleaning, statistics show, which speaks to some of the gendered expectations/value we put on people’s time

Childhood stuffed dinosaur was caught in the moving vortex. Child (young man now) said to throw it out but then changed mind, resulting in us pawing through industrial-sized black garbage bags on our sidewalk in the dark, only for DJP to find it -unscathed- in a still-upstairs garbage bag. Mission accomplished, dinosaur restored to child! by @katieorens

We had so much fun at last night’s Expert Talk with the brilliant @writerdawnturner, in conversation with OEP coach and facilitator @heidikstevens. Dawn spoke beautifully about the importance of freeing your voice and your stories from having to exist in one genre. Your observations and narrating, she said, can show up in the world in many forms, from fiction to memoir to poetry to op-eds. We love that ❤️

My amazing, crazy, fearless brother @jefforenstein just swam the Cook Strait between the north and south islands of New Zealand. It is part of his quest to swim around the world, or at least brave a lot of very cold oceans and swim with the sharks in the sometimes dark for many many hours. He’s the GOAT y’all! by @katieorens
