One of the neatest things we did was go into the mountains and to a closed community. The mission had built them this church/school but all they had was a tiny outhouse for everyone. Our team raised enough $ for not one but TWO bathrooms!!!! Who wants to go with us next year? by @katiew987

Today I received a prized possession. This is what it is all about. I spent a lot of time making a coloring book for the kids that explained everything about the anesthesia.
I didn’t want any part of it to get lost in translation. (Thank you ChatGPT for the Honduran Spanish) My patient today came in with her book colored and the sweetest note for me. In English so I could read it!!! by @katiew987

Finishing up a wonderful first day. We did preops for all the patients, unloaded supplies and set up the ORs. Then we went out into the community to bring toys for the kids and rice& beans. Brought a photo printer to give copies to the families. Had a great dinner and now it’s time to lounge around for a little fellowship and game playing. @jwat_msuforester @_maggiewatson by @katiew987

June 12–19, I’ll be heading to Honduras for a medical mission trip, and if you’re a nurse or scrub tech who’s ever felt that quiet pull to serve beyond the OR walls, this is it. You go thinking you’re going to give. Your skills. Your time. Your heart. And somehow, you leave with so much more than you brought.

It’s long days, early mornings, and doing a lot with very little. It’s patients who say thank you and appreciate you . It’s being reminded why you chose healthcare in the first place. The gratitude is overwhelming, the joy is real, and the impact is deep.

This is a week that you will be appreciated in ways that change you. You will be humbled. And you will receive more blessings than you could ever give.#medicalmission #Honduras #giveback #blessings

If your heart’s been nudging you… listen. 💙 by @katiew987
