🎭 AESTHETICS OF SOLIDARITY FESTIVAL 20–30 August 2026 | Uferstudios Berlin
Artistically Powerful. Radically Inclusive. Politically Impactful.

The Aesthetics of Solidarity Festival is an artistic response to the rising popularity of right-wing parties and their political aesthetics of denialism, polarization, and culture of hate.

The festival transforms theatre into an assembly and a practice of collective imagination. Through public dialogue and the Collective Forum, participants discuss the conflicts presented, develop strategies together, enter the scene, test alternatives and transform the narrative of the performance.

Urgent social conflicts such as housing justice, migration policies, ecological crisis, censorship, toxic masculinity are explored through
Forum and Legislative Theatre

The program also includes:
🧡 Practical workshops introducing the methods and techniques of Theatre of the Oppressed and Teatro de las Oprimidas.
💜 Dramaturgy Labs, where participants work directly with theatre groups on their Forum Theatre plays, contributing new perspectives and helping to strengthen the performances.

The festival counts with special guests from Brazil: CTO Rio de Janeiro and CTO Bahia.

Together to celebrate 15 years of KURINGAand 40 years of CTO Rio, two histories connected by the praxis of theatre as a rehearsal for social transformation.

🎟️ Full festival participation: €150–250 with access to the extensive program of performances, workshops and Dramaturgy Labs.

What happens when silence becomes complicity?
And what does it take to break it?

Through Silence is Sexy, Pandeforium invites us to question why we remain silent in the face of injustice, who benefits from our silence, and what it costs us, both individually and collectively.

Through Forum Theatre, the audience is invited to step into the action, challenge the choices made on stage, and explore collective strategies to change the story strategies that can go beyond the walls of the theatre and be put into practice in our everyday lives.

Teatro de las Oprimidas emerged from the urgent need to create theatrical representations that do not blame oppressed people for the oppression they face, and that move beyond individualistic ways of staging conflict.

It is an aesthetic and political investigation that brings social structures into the performance and into dialogue with the audience.

Teatro de las Oprimidas promotes an aesthetic inquiry into injustices shaped by the intersections of gender, race and class. It examines how socialization and the construction of gender shape social roles, making visible the mechanisms of oppression that sustain patriarchy and exploring alternatives to transform this reality.

Teatro de las Oprimidas is a methodology with specific proposals for making theatre, open to everyone committed to overcoming patriarchy, making space for other ways of being, and building a project of social transformation that includes diverse subjectivities.

Above all, it opens up a way of thinking about Feminist Aesthetics.

@barbara.kuringa , a leading methodological reference for the Ma(g)dalena International Network, is an artist, writer, teacher and the artistic director of @kuringa_berlin and @madalena.berlin.

Her book Teatro de las Oprimidas traces the development of feminist aesthetics among artist-activists from diverse regions, nations and cultures, and presents the political history of the Network @redmagdalenasinternacional

Palestinians Are Your Eyes: A worldwide reading to never forget

On October 15, 2026, theaters, universities, public squares, and bookstores around the world will unite in an act of global cultural resistance. On this date, dozens of companies, artists, and associations ranging from Brazil to Mexico, from Italy to Ireland, from Jordan to Gaza, will stage the texts written by the young authors of the Anqa Theatre Company throughout the course of the same day.

Who is Anqa
Anqa is a theater collective born from an initiative by Progetto REC. It is composed of authors and artists from Gaza and Italy who, through theater and writing, transform their own experience into a direct, human, and unfiltered testimony. In Arabic, Anqa means phoenix.

Why October 15?
The choice of October 15 is not accidental: on this very day in 2023, young Anqa Company performer Abraham Saidam lost his life under the bombs in Gaza. With his death, the dream of a young man who wished to dedicate his life to art was shattered. Today, his fellow artists transform that pain into renewed hope: by entrusting their experiences to writing, they honor Abraham’s memory and continue the mission he could not fulfill.

Solidarity in Action
Any proceeds derived from donations collected during the initiatives will be allocated to fund the Jafra Center in Jabalia, Gaza.
