CALI is a tribute to peace and feminine energy. Her upward gaze connects the earthly and the spiritual, embodying grounding and ancestral wisdom. Her name came after several admirers said she resembles the Amazonian Warrior Queen Calafia, a figure I’d never heard of before. When I found her story and discovered this state of California was named after her, there was no question what her name is.

Artist Spotlight ✨

@katricecreates

Since childhood, she has been drawn to mixed media and textured art, a curiosity that has grown into a multidisciplinary practice spanning sculpting, relief clay work, epoxy resin, natural crystals, pour painting, and plaster on canvas. Recently completing formal training in clay sculpting, she continues to build on the hands-on, three-dimensional approach that has shaped her process since she was a kid riding around the neighborhood collecting objects to upcycle. Her work often incorporates found materials and explores themes of transformation, earthiness, and visual surprise, with a fascination for optical illusions, hidden images, and assemblages that encourage viewers to look closer. At the heart of her practice is a desire to spark a sense of connection to the natural world and a feeling of wonder in those who experience her art. by @katricecreates

This painting honors a dear friends resilience in the face of multiple sclorosis. Once confident in stilettos, she now moves through life in Chucks ~symbolizing groundedness, adaptability and queit rebellion. Through this simple, everyday detail, the work reflects and unspoken understanding; while the journey of MS is complex and often unseen, her spirit remains bold, creative, and unbreakable. I love you and i see you @theagame_ 😘🧡💪🏾✨🌹♒️🔶
