We were invited to contribute to the publication “(un)bekannt. Blicke auf Salzburg.” The book builds on an exhibition project and brings together historical photographs from the Salzburg Museum with new works by 40 artists. Our photographic series “Industrial Order” is part of it.

We have made a publication about our „razio“ series. The publication is available via DM or e-mail.

Sabaudia has existed since the early 1930s, making it one of the last cities to be founded in Europe. The rapid construction, which lasted from August 1933 to April 1934, followed Benito Mussolini’s order to drain the Pontine Marshes southeast of Rome. By the end of the 1930s, Littoria (now Latina, 1932), Pontinia (1934–1935), Aprilia (1936–1937), and finally Pomezia (1938–1939) had been built in the Lazio region alongside Sabaudia, following urban planning concepts. They are regarded as training grounds for Italian rationalism and demonstrate its links to Mussolini’s fascist regime. (See Ulrich Pfammatter, Moderne und Macht, 2014.)

What is a location and what does it say about one’s own position? Does it require a fixed point or even an anchor to be able to orient oneself? When we speak of positioning, we typically mean the determination of the current geographical location of an object or individual. But the attempt to define a position can be a much more complex and multifaceted process, involving reflections on the subject’s own values and where they stand in their life. (Museum der Moderne)
