“ M i r r o r “ // Experimental Short

It reflects a journey of inner conflict and self-discovery through looking deeply into a mirror trying to reach under the skin into the dark spots deep down in the head.

The concept is a mixture of experiences through translating a poem to a spirit of a dance choreography that expressed the deep emotions through movement, and music comes to lead as a fearless element that speaks and visualizes all the inner thoughts and creates a contrast between the chaos and calmness in the journey where there is also a projection of inner beauty despite the dark thoughts. taken in Bahrain National Theater by @katt.0

“ M i r r o r “ // Installation

// Take a moment, look yourself deeply into a mirror. What do you see? //

—

Today, for the first time in months, I looked into a mirror, trying to look beneath my skin, searching for that inner beauty they’ve been talking about while having the biggest panic attack in years.

I tried finding a reason to avoid all the dark thoughts, to cross the road filled with shattered pieces of a broken mirror called myself, to unravel all the secrets under my scars that were left after a tragedy in order to touch the light and learn to love myself, to live for a while.

Yet as I was looking through, I caught a glimpse of my pupils, and the things I saw were far more scary than I thought it’d ever be, they were empty, shallow, sucked out of life, filled with anger, hate, pain and frustration, and for the first time in years, I was scared.

But I wasn’t terrified from the dark, nor the monsters under the sheets, hell even the monsters in my head weren’t scary enough to shake this fear off, but I was afraid of my own self.

I was struck by lightning as I started to realize what I’ve become, a vessel with no soul, I emptied myself from every emotion, friendship is like any random encounter now, love is a selfish thing to walk through, having fun is just a balancing act and saying that I’m fine is the lie I tell my brain rather than others trying to perform a magic trick to make all my problems fade away.

Though I’m no Harry Houdini, but I got some tricks upon my sleeve, I’m a master of disguise, a multi Oscar winner, a well trained serial killer, a messed up psychopath and today, for the first time in months, I looked into a mirror and I feared myself.
