The joy of being on a film set is always something special, and shooting by the sea only made it better! A little AD throwback to last year’s behind the scenes moments from Grandma Swim short film production directed by Maryam Mir.

This project was the most i’ve ever worked with female head departments/crew and that was such a cool part of the experience! 🤩

Honored to have attended the Franco Film Festival at the French Embassy, where I moderated a panel on women in male-dominated fields. 🌟 The Swiss Embassy showcased “Cascadeuses,” a powerful documentary on stunt-women. Grateful to share the stage with Nadeen Yateem (Muay Thai fighter), Fatima Reyadh (men’s basketball coach), and Kawthar Fathallah (filmmaker). Their inspiring stories were a testament to breaking barriers and supporting women in every field.

It might be already an "old dance"
We change so much with time, not easy to share a dance from time ago, I see the "errors", "impurities" but I want to share it with this message:

Different origins, religion, culture, age, dance style, but damn, Dance is #beyond all of that.
Dance speaks the soul through the body, and the body doesn't lie, the soul has no age, The body does, and yet they live together, the body and tue dance are our medium for knowledge, #love emotions, experience, life.
We dance #Life

This is the #POWER OF DANCE that nothing else on earth has.
Even making love is pure dance.

THANKS TO Brookie for sharing dancing together and @katt.0 for recording that sunset dance at @the7thwaveme that host me as a dance teacher amd performer for a year so that I can say:

I grew up in Bahrain, a small island in the Arabian Gulf.

Every weekend, my family would visit the beach. Even though I spent my entire childhood here, I never once saw either of my grandmothers so much as contemplate dipping a toe in the water.

It was the same with my mother.

Until last summer, after my grandmother’s passing, when I was able to finally convince my mother to step into the sea in Bahrain for the first time ever. I couldn’t get this image out of my mind.

When I started to research it more, I discovered that despite being an island, nearly 70% of the adult population in Bahrain rarely or never go swimming. This is even more pronounced for women.

I was struck by a question: what does it mean to have such an immense resource—the sea—at your disposal, but to never imagine yourself as part of it? And what could it offer you—healing, pleasure, relief—if you could?

This led me to my next film, Grandma Swim, which follows an ocean-loving girl as she attempts to convince her water-fearing grandmother to swim in the sea for the first time on their shared birthday.

We’re less than 3 weeks away from filming and still have a funding gap to get us through production! We would so appreciate any support or sharing of our fundraiser so we can bring this film to life in the way we dream of, and imagine!
