POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

There are some sessions that move me. And this is one of them.

Every single photo I’ve taken of the people I’ve met takes time. Hours. Sometimes even months or years in the making. Listening, watching, learning. anticipating what the artist or client might need. Water, food, candy, encouragement. Or for you to even just stay away until it’s ok to come into that circle of trust.

I wil forever be a student and a guest in their session. It’s something I don’t take for granted

There are so many things that have to be just right in order for me to approach a session. The artist needs to trust that I don’t talk to their client so much it makes them move around. The client needs to trust me that I’m not just not another “influencer”

That all starts from the moment you pull open that door to the tattoo shop. They way you walk in, reading the energy of the room. How you say hi to every one..There’s tattoo shop etiquette. It’s enriched my life and given me more lessons in life than any schooling I’ve had.

I love documenting these moments. This moment came with time, trust, and hours spent listening. Watching. Respecting. Space and privacy.

@jgabrielart thank you for letting me in on this session and trusting me to document moments like this,
where I know it all made us think about the badasses we truly are.😎🙏🏽🫶 taken in Humble Beginnings Tattoo by @kay.shootz

Grateful I get to do this work. When someone passes away, grief and death brings perspective. So it is a privilege to feel tired.
