This was a hard one. Uncle Karl was our Tahitian uncle and a tattoo chief—an elder who truly understood our tattoo life. I’ve always admired him dearly for the genuine love he and his family has shown us during the few times we connected.

A series. An exercise. A love.

Close your eyes and cue “They Sink” by Olafur Arnolds. It begins like a march in winter. Then the cello whole notes hit and it feels like you’re floating, but under water. Half way through it feels like you’re rising. Then it’s over.

The stage is set.

I woke up this morning a little emotional. Another season in the books. 5 straight months of pouring everything into creating a container, one you can stand in the center of under the spotlight, or off to the side guised in a fedora to take it in — the connections blooming, the artists standing in their own light.

I’m reminded of the lives I’ve had as different people come by. Connections woven in and out, a passage of time letting you see how they’ve shaped you. It was all a blink. It was allll a blink. This time I shut my eyes and take a breath.

I want people to feel safe. To be seen. To be loved and to love back. I want to create. I want to prove to the world, maybe myself, that you can earn honest compensation for your creative labor. I want art to be the center of the container, not the thing taken for granted.

This experience has been an exercise in knowing who I am, what I can do, and how I can still grow.

Art is deeply personal. I’m thankful for the artists who trusted me, often without fully knowing me or my character.

I’m grateful for Tomoyo an industry giant who tirelessly helps run businesses most people don’t adore until they’re gone. Ty for showing me what creative freedom is. Your unflappability to my anxiousness was the foil I didn’t know I needed.

Haberdasher staff: it was hard not to let our energies intertwine. I wanted to do good by you.

To the friendships that bloomed, too many to name, I feel lucky that happenstance happened.

I love you brother, mom, and Q, who show up as to say, “we see you, we got you for life.”

To my partner Marisol. It was special to see others see you. The force that you are from set up to imagining new backdrops, editing photos, documenting our series. You have my heart.

Fade to black.

The cavity holding my vision begins to fill. I blink to resist tears. We did that. We are enough.

We’re 10 days out!

Our First Thursday Residency is back for Act II at Haberdasher. This post is dedicated to our resident crew. Our house band includes Jared Cruz (@saxindacity), Manny Junaedy (@orchkeystra), Ray Lin (@rayrlin), and Jonathan Francisco Borca (@francis_experience) hold it down every month and work hard to give you different sounds.

And major love to Marisol Espinoza of @pixsol.collective, our resident photographer and staging and design lead, who documents the series monthly and puts a lot of intention into themes and decor.

📣 By popular demand, our featured drink “Halo Halo” by @rozispunk is back for one more month.

Thank you to everyone who came through for our launch, shared the night with us, and helped bring this series back.

📣 It’s official family. The Haberdasher Shows are launching again this year, April through August.

What started as a pre-pandemic idea came back in 2025 as a small pilot that somehow turned into 7 straight months of free, at or near capacity nights. Music. Pop up photography. Art. Craft cocktails. Vendors. It took its own life. Folx I look up to lent their talent, the creative community showed up, and the vibes were healing.

Thank you to Tomo for trusting my creative vision and really working at this thing with me. Thank you to the staff who held it down on the packed nights.

Special S/O to the bandmates @bennettrothnewell, @distractedcircuits, who helped me launch this and who generously shared their talent and time. I’m gonna miss rocking with yall, and I’m also excited for what’s to come for all of us. Much love and upward momentum.

To every vendor, artist, musician, and supporter who shared your time and heart: thank you. We built our own mini-ecosystem.

We’re one month away from our return, and I’m walking into this new season with a clear intention: Keep building a safe, free creative space where the community feels held, and where every dollar stays local with artists and small businesses.
