POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A time before this is collection of songs that journey through thought and memory. With this music I get to examine past versions of myself, realize old dreams, and embark upon new beginnings. So much of me went into this body of work. I’m over the moon excited and ready to share it with the world. Head to the link in my bio to pre-order A time before this…

My heart is bursting with love and gratitude. This night was truly like living on the inside of a dream. Old friends, new friends, family and loved ones came out and filled the space with more love than I could have imagined was possible in one room. I can’t thank yall enough for pouring into me as I poured my heart out.

Ripe Mangoes is a story of womanhood
In a lot of ways women’s bodies are coveted, forced ripe, consumed and discarded…like fruit.
Desired for their sweetness and nourishment, expected to be the perfect devour-able specimen
Prim and pure enough to be deemed worthy of consumption
And far too often harvested before they can even ripe
Far too many of us have suffered, and are still suffering through the trauma of abuse. You are not alone
In the spirit of domestic violence awareness month, this song honours women and children plucked too soon
The ugliness of the violence against us will only end when we stop protecting and making excuses for predators and abusers.
I transmuted my pain into a a warrior cry of triumph through these words. For you. For us. For me.

Thank you so much @trpnow for inviting me. It’s always such a pleasure working with you! What a beautiful experience to share and create with the families who came out for The Next Chapter Festival. My face hurt for the rest of the day from smiling so hard. It warmed my heart to see and feel so much love and excitement for stories and creativity. Spending time and creating with community and children always heals my soul, reminding me why I do what I do.

Special shout out to @nemo.nemi.nems and @spliffon_ For making sure I could turn my brain off and focus on performing and having fun with the kids! by @kaygeni
