If you had asked me three years ago where I’d be today, I probably would’ve started crying — and simply whispered, “everything will work out.”

After high school graduation, my world changed in ways I couldn’t imagine. The biggest shift came when my mom was diagnosed with stage four cancer. I was already afraid to leave home — to leave her and my siblings — and now I was adjusting to college while nursing the woman who has always nursed me. We were told we had until December 2022… but here we are, three years later, preparing for another graduation — together.

Ma, you are and will always be my greatest motivation. Thank you for being my superhero and letting me be yours. Your strength lives in me. Through every sleepless night, every hard decision, every prayer — I’ve learned lessons I’ll carry for a lifetime. Some were painful, some were beautiful, but all of them led me to this moment.

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” — Romans 8:18
Everything that happened was meant to prepare me for who I am today. I am forever thankful for NCCU, my family, my friends, and most importantly, God, for never giving up on me and walking this journey with me every step of the way. by @kaynelleeee

They say diamonds are made under pressure — molded by time, tested by fire, and revealed in strength and brilliance. This journey has been just that. Through every challenge, I discovered more of who I am and who I’m meant to be.

To My Prez and LMC: thank you for being a listening ear and guiding light. Thank you for fighting for us, showing grace, and never letting up. Your wisdom, strength, and humility have left an imprint on me that I’ll carry forever.

To MC: thank you for walking with us, guiding us, and helping us through every step of this journey. Your support made all the difference, and I’m forever grateful to have had you in our corner.

To my sisters: thank y’all for simply being you. I love y’all to the moon and back, and I promise to honor and serve this sisterhood for a lifetime.

Thank you, North Carolina Central University,
for being my home for the last three years. Thank you for the lessons, the memories, and the moments that shaped me. Thank you for the late nights in the library, the long labs that deepened my love for science, and the space to grow, learn, and simply be myself.

To the faculty, staff, and peers who poured into me — thank you for the encouragement, the laughs, the tears, and the lifelong bonds. Thank you for becoming my family and standing by me on my toughest days. Thank you for reminding me that I never had to walk this journey alone.

At NCCU, I soared like an eagle. 🦅
And now, I leave with a B.S. in Biomedical Science and a heart full of gratitude.
