Another new read! I was curious to check out the other manga adaptations of Natsu Hyuuga’s works. (Thanks again, friends from the Manga Love Challenge.) So I picked up The Failure at God School and am waiting for You Can’t Bluff the Sharp-Eyed Sister.

I’ve been meaning to pick this series up a while ago, but totally pushed it to the back burner and then blanked on it. hehehehe😅… But after reading it, I’m sad I didn’t pick it up sooner. I love a story where someone doesn’t realize their potential and, slowly but surely, their abilities are drawn out. Anyone else?

Definitely going to keep reading this series to see where it goes.

Finally picked this up, and I have to say I’m delightfully impressed.

Synopsis: Pyontaro is just your normal middle school boy living a pretty ordinary life. He goes to school, hangs out with his buds Hiroshi and Tsubame, and is bothered by his annoyingly cute sister, Futaba. Nothing weird… right?! That is, until he and his bud unknowingly find a connection to a parallel universe, and his sister goes missing. Concerned for her, he and his friends set out to find her. Only to discover she’s been captured by the aliens in this world. Now the three of them have to rescue Futaba with the help of the people of this world.

💭I’m really drawn to the story and interested to see how it plays out. It has a parallel universe, aliens, OP abilities, and just silly shenanigans, which makes this fun. But what takes this to the next level is the art. It’s a mix of old school and new school drawings, and I totally dig it.

Looking forward to continuing this series. Have you read this one? 💭

Happy #mangamonday ! Got another new read that I picked up because of the Manga Love Challenge: The Fiancée Chosen by the Ring. I have to say, I’ve enjoyed all the recs I've picked up so far. There hasn’t been a miss yet!

If you don’t know about this one, here’s a quick blurb.

Nothing says it was “meant to be” like getting hit in the face by a wedding ring, but that is exactly what happened to Aurora. What started off as an evening of getting embroidery inspo turned into an engagement to one of the royal knights. All because the ring “chose her”. This was not what she signed up for. The knight cannot be serious…right?! Faced with a unique situation, what will Aurora do?

The Fiancee Chosen By the Ring is another fun romcom shoujo worth reading. I’ve only read the first volume, but it is totally a fake relationship that turns real. Which I kinda love. I can’t wait to see all the antics, misunderstandings, and romance that blooms from this situation.

This is an ongoing manga series with a light novel adaptation. There are seven volumes out, so I’ve got some catching up to do, but I am stoked!

Are you reading this series? 💭

Finally caught up because I was behind on this series and 🤭 Vol. 6 seems like it's about to get messy because of Tsukihiko’s daddy. I hope not too messy but 🤷🏾‍♀️

Man, I really enjoyed catching up on this series😊 I’ve been missing out😆

Q: Are you reading this one? 💭

Again with another great pick! But @thebookishotaku why do you do this to me 😫? I always want to read the next volume ASAP. However this time my library doesn't carry this series, and I need to know what happens 😭 UUUGGGHHHHH~! It’s okay… I'll just 💸💸💸😂😭

I think what I love about this is it’s a little bit… scratch that… a lot of bit messy😆The drama 💛 the reincarnation and second chance💛 that half-sister of hers 😡 For real tho, throw that half-sister in the trash!!! But without her, we wouldn't have the story, so... I guess… she can stay😒for now😂

Until I can get the next volume, I will have to suffer and ponder what will happen next😩

Q: Have you read this series?? 💭

I already picked up and read a rec from the Manga Love Challenge: Always a Catch! How I Punched My Way into Marrying a Prince. All I have to say is this is absolutely silly and I loved it. Maria is a hoot. Plus the Prince and his family are something else😆 I will definitely keep reading this series.

That’s a wrap for September! And now we are in October!! Spooky season👻

Unfortunately, I don't have any horror manga set up to read this month 😅 But no big whoop! I’ll just read the stuff that's haunting me from my TBR shelf. That’s some scary stuff😆

September was a good month for reads. Seriously enjoyed all of them. I didn't have a single bad read. That’s a win!

I already talked about my faves so I won't do it again, BUT what was your favorite read this month?

Day 29 of the #mangalovechallenge - Shelfie Time!!

🎶Look at this stuff/ Isn’t it neat?/ Wouldn’t you think my collection’s complete?/ Wouldn’t you think I’m the squirrel, the squirrel who has everything?🎶

Well… I don’t, but I really love my collection tho! This isn’t even all my physical copies because my besties have several of my Sakamoto Days, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, and Tamon’s B-Side. But this is it! Where all my hard earned money goes💸😆😭

Three and a half shelves of manga, manhwa, graphic novels, and more. It’s a mixture of all the dems and BL😆 I even have a small danmei/LN shelf going on, which in all honesty, will continue to grow🙂‍↕️

But I am super curious! Do we have any of the same series?

What started as a read of xxxHolic became more than I could have imagined. I’m really glad that Hell is Dark With No Flowers reminded me of xxxHolic. Though they are not the same, the supernatural vibes and other elements of the story are what drew me to read xxxHolic. I watched some of the anime way back when but realized I didn’t remember much. So this was the perfect place for me to be to dive deep into this series.

However, when I started reading this series, snippets of panels from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles left me wondering. It was suggested in the volumes to read both xxxHolic and Tsubasa in tandem for the full experience, but it's not necessary. Still, if you do plan to read either of them, I implore you to read them in tandem. It seriously takes the story to another level. The plot, the characters, the development, the reveals… ugh~! CLAMP, get out of here! Y’all had me captivated. It was totally worth the read. I was up into the wee hours of the morning reading the remainder of the series.

This is definitely worth experiencing again! I’m not saying much about the story because I’m begging you, PLEASE READ IT! You won’t regret it.

Q: Have you read Tsubasa and/or xxxHolic? Thoughts?

Day 25 of the #mangalovechallenge - Have you picked up any new manga this month?

I sure did🤩 A bookstore loves to see me. My wallet on the other hand…probably resents me😅😆 R.I.P. my hard-earned money💸💸💸

This is practically my September haul minus a preorder that hasn’t come in yet. This haul was a mixture of preorders, thrift finds, random trips to the bookstore, and a lack of self-control 🤣😭 It’s not too bad but…🫣

Q: Did you get anything good?
