What a weekend. On Friday we had the honour of a visit from the Sports Authority of Thailand to film at the Gym & present The Sports Authority ‘ certified gym’ placard ahead of the Muaythai Masterclass in Woking with superstars Saenchai, Namsaknoi & Nabil Anani. What an honour.

Saturday at Woking Leisure Centre was an outstanding day of Muaythai wonder promoted by the Sports Authority including seminars with all 3 superstars, award ceremonies, traditional Muaythai displays & amazing food. A great turn out of UK gyms and was awesome to see the Mayor of Woking in attendance too with great passion towards the sport.

I want to personally thank Rittijack Kaewsamrit for putting me forwards and everybody thats made my life what it is at Keddles Gym the last 31 years. It was a huge honour to receive the award and to have The Sports Authority here. My congratulations to you on the Masterclass you promoted.

Benefits for Certified Muaythai Gym
1. Receive a certificate, honorary plaque, and standard certification sign from Office of the Boxing Committee, Sports Authority of Thailand, Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
2. Have the right to send trainers for coach training to obtain a license for training foreigners, according to the curriculum of Office of the Boxing
3. Be invited to participate in promoting Muaythai gym at cultural fairs hosted by embassies, such as the Thai Festival.
4. Be invited to participate in Muaythai competitions, both domestically and internationally, organized by Office of the Boxing Committee.

Well what an honour it was on Wednesday to be invited to meet the Prime Minister of Thailand, her Excellency @ingshin21 and to be able to openly ask questions about our beloved sport of Muaythai. All part of the ‘ soft power of Thailand’ initiative in association with The Sports Authority & Boxing Comittee & @wbcmuaythai .

Having been involved in the sport for 4 decades it really does show how far we have come. It was great to see the gyms here in the UK getting recognised for their contribution to the national sport of Thailand. I also made sure that some gyms that havent had the award yet were brought to their attention for their contribution over the many years. Its difficult from the outside to see who they are but i feel certain that they will get to everybody. Their efforts are amazing. The events promoted so far are even more amazing.

Our discussions about promotion of Muaythai here in the UK doesn’t just include the sport but the cultural enrichment it brings like UK nationals learning the language, developing a taste for the cuisine, purchasing amulets, clothing and other ‘Thai artifacts’ . Its grown & grown since my involvement thats for sure.

It was nice to see @steve_semtex @nashkeshwala @joerittijak @jamestoomey_jttmuaythai @namponpkmuaythaigym @parnpetchriromgmail.com_ @jompop_kiatphontip @kruthaimuaythai @jhaggerty_ @teamundergroundmma @freddiehaggerty_ @alexrose_toomey @singdayt_muaythai and so many others in the room. I dont know all your instagram tags🥲.

The discussions involved 4 main topics that were

1. Certification for instructors of the sport
2. A governing body for the sport in UK
3. Sport England recogntion
4. The ability to grant visas for Thai nationals to visit UK gyms for seminars, coaching.

These proceedings over the last month are because on the 18 April 2025, we commemorated the 170th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between Thailand and the United Kingdom. On this special occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy in London was pleased to share a Message of Congratulations from Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand.

I want to give a very special shout-out to these two incredible gentlemen, who mean more to me than words can express.

Both of them know me better than I know myself at times. They’ve always been there with support, guidance, advice and, most importantly, genuine friendship. There is absolutely NOTHING I wouldn’t do for either of them.

@nickheadhunter and I have been lifelong friends. We’ve stood shoulder to shoulder through the good times, the bad times and everything in between. Even though he’s now halfway around the world, the distance has never changed a thing. He’s always there when I need him, just as I’ll always be there for him. That’s what true friendship is all about.

Then there’s Alan. I still remember walking through the doors of @keddles_gym over 15 years ago and being properly introduced to him by @chute_box_uk, something I’ll forever be grateful for. I’d known of Alan and looked up to him for many years within the sport.

Although that first introduction still makes me laugh to this day! Scott turned to him and said, “Alright Al, this is…” only for Alan to reply, “I know who he is,” before promptly turning around and carrying on with the pads! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fast-forward 12 years, and there he was, standing proudly beside me as my best man, alongside Lou. Funny how life works and how some of the most important people in your life come into it when you least expect it.

These two men are far more than friends to me. They’re family. They’ve seen me at my best, supported me through my worst and never once turned their backs on me.

Without these two in my life, I genuinely don’t know where I’d be today.

Loyalty, respect and friendship are things that can never be bought, and I’m fortunate enough to have all three in abundance from these two.
