surprise custom shirt for water jumpin beast @themetaverch turning 30 !! Process: Andrew took an existing picture of James, sketched it out (we used this for the card), then simplified it down to shapes. We projected it on the wall overlaying the shirt to get accurate sizing, traced the drawing on sticky paper, cut out the shapes, stuck them on to fabric, cut out each shape, arranged them on the shirt, pin/taped them down, and then Jill got to sewing!! We picked this shirt because it was a towel-like material, which is right in line with James’ water-based lifestyle. Double-stitched and durable fabrics for longevity! digitized the @dinnerserviceny logo for a surprise gift for the owner on one of my handmade jean bags 💙 Process: @laurendanielleswainfranko asked me to make a jean bag for her aunt @gabrielledgomes and as a surprise, asked if I could embroider the logo of her business on it! She wanted the bag to be big enough to haul things around New York, but still stylish. DSNY has so many fun variants of their logo I might have to make some more! But I picked one and used @stitchartist software to digitize the image into a PES embroidery file. Exported that to my thumbdrive, popped the thumbdrive into our @brothersews and away we went! Had to do a test on a dish cloth first. I always like to text first before embroidering on the final fabric. handmade baby blanket from hand painted squares for Maria’s baby shower!! 💜 For the baby shower I hosted, instead of traditional stuffy games I wanted there to be meaningful crafts. But not just crafts that would get discarded, something lasting. So, I picked out well-made natural fabrics at the store and cut squares for guests to paint. To achieve a cohesive aesthetic look, I selected only a handful of color options that could be used. I mixed the acrylic paint with a fabric medium to ensure it would take well to the fabric. Afterwards, I heat-set the painted fabric to lock in the paint so the blanket will be safe in the wash. Let me know if you want to try this and have any questions! This was my first attempt at quilting style…and I kinda love it!
