Sydney Marathon 2026 - what an experience!

I have been looking forward to this for 20 weeks. Set myself the goal of hitting a sub 4 but wasn’t to be. Set the pace early before the lactic hit at 32km, and I simply held on with everything I had until the end. Finished with a PB of 4:14 which upon reflection I am still very proud of.

Marathons are hard! Reels and stories make them look easy but they are really tough. Even the preparation for a marathon brings challenges - little niggles, long runs, time, nutrition, shoes, adaptation to your other training, running during my lunch breaks.

The ironic things is that it also brings me peace and gratitude. There is a simpleness to running that takes me on a journey that I cannot rush. Similar to anything meaningful in life. It takes time and energy. I am grateful for my 2 functioning legs that move my body, the air I breathe, the water I drink, the chair I sit on, the bed I rest on.

But mostly I grateful for the people that love and support me along the journey. That run around the city screaming for me. Help me recover and get me back onto my feet again.

Before, during, and after my marathon. ❤️ by @keith_peters_

Trip to Osaka was amazing with great food and the people were super friendly. We experienced as much as our little legs could handle, with planned rest days, and still left so fulfilled. Even snuck in a trip to Kyoto which I’m so glad we did because the temples, history, and bamboo forest, provided a different perspective to the major cities.

I continue to be in awe of the Japanese people and how everything just works. So many people operating in harmony - not in a judicious, forceful way; but a culture underlined with respect. The roads are clean, trains are on time, they wait at the traffic lights before crossing even when there are no cars within sight, they sit down to enjoy the food that has been delicately prepared (it is rude to walk and eat), they bow as a sign of respect, nobody speaks overly loud, no signs of arrogance or entitlement anywhere - except maybe from the occasional tourist.

There is something deeper here that I’m discovering. What the world would look like if you cared less about yourself, and more about your society, community, suburb, state, and country - you will actually benefit in the broader picture because you get to participate in something much larger than yourself. And in return have a safer, cleaner, healthier environment for yourself and the younger generations to follow.

The world should be taking notes from Japan 🇯🇵. Whilst we focus only on ourselves, you have demonstrated that you can build an economy, infrastructure, technology, work hard - and still remain completely respectful of others.

I’m grateful I got to experience this blissful culture with my family. We respectfully thank you Japan 🇯🇵

And we have kicked off our family trip to Japan. First leg from Sydney to Tokyo. Posting this as we ride the bulletin train from Tokyo to Osaka.

Always wanted to visit Japan since uni days and it has taken some time to finally get here, but it was certainly worth the wait. In God’s time. Having turned 40 but also being able to share the experience with @mkatrina87 and our 4 beautiful children is such a blessing.

Life is not about the destination or how quickly it takes to get there, but WHO you get to share your journey with. And I’m utterly grateful that I get to experience life with my family, creating lifelong memories along the way. by @keith_peters_

Last Friday, the Axia team came together for our second internal Lessons Learned Workshop — and it was another valuable session.

Our Director, @keith_peters_ , and Advisor, Clinton Tran, shared key insights drawn from their project experience across two critical topics:

🔹 Cost Forecasting — how clients and contractors effectively manage and track costs across multiple projects
🔹 Temporary Works — the design, implementation, and growing importance of temporary works in today’s infrastructure landscape

The open discussion it sparked real questions, shared experiences, and genuine collaboration across the team.

At Axia, continuous learning is how we build capability, deepen expertise, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for our clients.

Looking forward to many more sessions like this. 💡

Meet the Team 🎥 | @keith_peters_

Our Director and Co-Founder, Keith Peters, shares a look into life beyond the day-to-day of project delivery.

His life outside of work is built on three core pillars: faith, family, and fitness. These values shape not only how Keith spends his time outside of work, but also how he leads within the business.

Whether it’s staying active, investing time with family, or maintaining a strong sense of purpose, Keith’s approach is grounded, consistent, and people-focused. A perspective that continues to influence the culture and direction of Axia.

As we step into 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year at Axia Engineering.

Hear from our Directors, James and Keith, as they recap the year that was. 2025 was shaped by meaningful projects, strong partnerships, and the people who make it all happen. From delivering impactful outcomes for our communities to coming together through team events and workshops, it’s been a year to be proud of.

Thank you to our clients, partners, staff and contractors for being part of the journey. We’re excited to keep the momentum going in 2026.

I don’t ever want to take these moments for granted!

If you ever have the privilege of someone looking at you like this 😍, yes it is joyous, and yes it makes your heart melt 🫠. However it is also a RESPONSIBILITY.

Second to being a husband it is my biggest responsibility. Looking after my children and making sure my decisions have their best interests in mind. Supporting them. Guiding them. Providing a positive example to them. Showing them courage is only made possible through vulnerability. It is okay to fail. But most of all to LOVE them.

I don’t often post about my kids but something I felt called to do. Especially spending quality time with them during these Easter holidays.

BTW do any other fathers of daughters find themselves welling up at weddings when the bride walks down the isle with her dad? 🥹 by @keith_peters_

Last year I had the privilege of being invited to partner with the University of Sydney as a guest lecturer for CIVL1810 Engineering Construction and Surveying, and CIVL3811 Design and Construction.

Providing industry experience and encouraging the next generation of engineers to pursue their careers with drive and intentionality.

Looking forward to continuing our partnership with USYD in 2025! taken in University of Sydney by @keith_peters_
