I had the honor of promoting my second black belt, and the first one ever promoted here at Severna Park — Brandon Epps. Brandon’s journey speaks for itself: European Open champion, PAN champion, Masters Worlds champion. On the mats, he’s as tough as they come. Off the mats… he may be a perpetual troll — but he is one of the most loyal, generous, and supportive teammates you’ll ever meet.Brandon is the guy who shows up early, stays late, opens the gym off-schedule, coaches whenever needed, and goes out of his way to help anyone in the room. He sets the standard for what it means to be part of this team.I’m incredibly proud of him, not just for the promotion, but for the teammate and person he continues to be. Last nIght i had the honor of promoting my first black belt, Baird Bailey!Anyone that has followed him knows it was well deserved, with win after win at major jiu-jitsu competition. Baird has been a handful on the mats from day one so its no surprise. What an incredible week at the IBJJF World Masters! 🥋🔥Masters Worlds marks the close of the gi season, and what a season it’s been. Coming off the best Adult Worlds in our history — with 8 medals — the bar was already set high. Our Masters competitors rose to the challenge and matched it with 8 medals of their own. (8 and 8… that’s Crazy! lol)But this year was about so much more than medals. It was about teammates pushing each other in training, supporting one another through the ups and downs, and stepping on the mats with confidence on one of the biggest stages in BJJ. 🌎💪From first-timers to seasoned veterans, everyone showed heart, grit, and the true spirit of what it means to be part of this team. The results were incredible — but what makes us most proud is the preparation, effort, and camaraderie that went into making this our best Masters Worlds yet.👏 Couldn’t be prouder of every single person who competed and represented our school with class.
