A corker of a day. Beginning with a Traghetto to the fish market (no photos taken - you'll understandwhy if you'vebeen on the gondola-style ferry), a walk around a most wonderfully quiet area of Venice (not easy to find places with fewer people), a glass or two and tramezzino for lunch, a gelato in the blazing sun at Gelateria Nico, then dinner at Da Rioba. Slightly corny picture-perfect day.

Yes we went to Piazza San Marco at sundown. Yes there were countless Asian brides having photo shoots and "classical" bands playing cover versions of Abba and Americans in shorts and t-shirts looking like they were wondering why they hadn't put proper clothes on, but oh, the sunset was just 👌 taken in Venice, Italy by @kelda68

What a whopper of a summer. Whilst it wasn't the best for B&B bookings, and it was hot, hot, hot, we had a blast. From friends, family, returning b&b guests, new b&b guests, sagre, pool time, days at the beach, making pasta, opening many bottles, dancing and singing, to welcoming our new hens, cooling off our old cats and seeing @curdins safely through to 60.

Thank you to everyone that came here to Le Marche, to revel in its delights. Now here's to a slower, cooler autumn and winter. taken in Le Marche, Italy by @kelda68

In my happy place making pasta. Eggs from my 🐔, local flour, a fun piece of kit I picked up in Bologna a few years ago, and a comforting sausage, onion and cream sauce from a recipe by @julskitchen. Perfect for this cooler weather - the kind I've been dreaming of during the swelteringly heat of summer.

The thing about living in a small community is enjoying wonderful evenings like this, where familiar faces greet one another and clink glasses. This evening was the grand opening of the new oleificio (the place you take your olives to be pressed and turned into beautiful, bright green oil). Such warmth, community and a sense of caring about the food we consume. Plus, flowing wine, porchetta panini and, of course, olive oil to taste. It's just a real shame we don't have any olives to harvest this year. Oh well, we can't win them all.

Ernie; 17 years old, deaf, partially blind, head like a wing nut, obsessed with drinking water from the bidet, yowls to be let out every night between 1am - 3am. But I love him.

Pretty much the perfect birthday lunch (his, not mine) at @ristorante_emilia_portonovo, with the sound of the sea lapping near our feet, wonderful service, heavenly food and wine, and excellent company.
