CARtime Pro Cycling | Welkom Race Report

Another strong weekend for CARtime Pro Cycling in Welkom, as the team extended its lead in the National Road Series standings.

Arriving with a clear objective to defend our position at the top of the rankings, the team delivered a disciplined performance, putting us in an even stronger position heading into the final races of the season.

Crosswinds played a decisive role in shaping the race, with the peloton splitting under pressure. The team responded well to the changing conditions, placing four riders in the leading group of 12. Our numerical advantage allowed us to control the race, cover key moves and contribute to extending the breakaway’s lead.

As the race reached its decisive phase, Kellan once again demonstrated his outstanding form, making the final selection of four riders who would contest the finish. He secured an excellent third place, adding another podium result to an impressive run of performances.

Rhys also delivered a strong ride to finish sixth, securing further valuable points for the team’s National Road Series campaign.

A composed and committed team performance, with every rider playing their part in extending our advantage at the top of the standings.

With the season drawing to a close, the focus remains firmly on the overall National Road Series title. The final races are approaching, and the team is determined to finish the season strongly.

At around 5:30 this morning we had a very panicked groom phone to let us know that there was another horse running around the paddock. This little one decided enough was enough and she wasn’t going to wait until next week. Apparently Razzle had the quietest birth in history. Between the two of them they decided that no human intervention was necessary and they had everything under control.

Another successful day for the team at the Tour de Worcester!

Perfect conditions made for an aggressive and extremely fast race from the start. The team rode an incredible race, staying composed and ensuring we were always in control and represented in every move.

With the race looking increasingly likely to come down to a sprint, we committed to that plan. Zane and Simon did a superb job of bringing back a late attack in the final kilometre, while Brad expertly navigated me through the field and delivered me into the perfect position for the sprint.

A huge team effort from start to finish, culminating in another victory!

Proud of the boys and the way we executed the plan.

TOUR DE WORCESTER 🏆

Another masterclass from the CARtime lads.
From the flag drop, the race was aggressive, with attack after attack — but the boys were on it, making sure we were present in every move.

A crash unfortunately took @james_swart_ out early, forcing us to adapt our lead-out, but once again the depth of this team came through.

When the attacks came in the closing kilometres, @simonferreira.cst and @zanesalzwedel were straight onto them, making sure nothing got away.

Then came the sprint.
@kellangouveris delivered once again, taking another emphatic victory in an incredible run of form. @rhys_burrell___ crossed the line in 5th, with @brad_gouveris 7th.

Three riders in the top 10. Another team victory. Another step forward in the @mzansi.nrs2026 .

The CARtime lads continue to show exactly what this team is capable of.

Solid weekend of racing last weekend, starting with the Blue Diamond Classic in Pretoria.

It was great to race up north again, we weren’t too sure how would feel with traveling and altitude but the team rode incredibly well from start to finish. It started fast and furious with attacks constantly being made. Nothing seemed to stick until Simon did some major damage in the gutter halfway through the race, which really splintered the field.

After a couple of attacks from Brad and Rhys, things settled down and the race became neutralised for a while. Simon then went up the road solo, putting the pressure on the other teams to chase. He was eventually caught with around 3 km to go. Brad then delivered me to the finish perfectly, and I was able to take the win, with Rhys coming home in 2nd and Brad in 4th.

We then packed up and flew to Cape Town, aiming to produce the same result at the Swartland Road Race the following day.

Once again, the team rode exceptionally well. It was a relatively controlled race, largely due to an early breakaway that stayed clear for most of the day, with James and Simon committing to the chase. The break was eventually caught on the final climb, which reduced the bunch to around 12 riders.

Brad, Rhys and I all made it over the climb in the front group, setting up a sprint finish. Brad delivered a strong lead-out and I managed to finish second. It was incredibly close to back-to-back wins, but unfortunately, it wasn’t to be.

Huge team effort and a great weekend out for Car-Time! 🚴‍♂️💨

Swartland Cycle Classic 2026

With tired legs and limited recovery, the lads headed down to the Cape for a second race in as many days. After the highs of yesterday, the objective was simple: back it up and go again.

The race started in controlled fashion and remained relatively steady for much of the day, with @james_swart_ and @simonferreira.cst doing the work at the front alongside Team ASAP to keep the race in check.

We knew the real action would come with around 20 kilometres remaining as the peloton approached Bothmaskloof Pass — and when the road went up, the race exploded.

The climb shattered the bunch, leaving just 15 riders clear, with three Cartime riders making the decisive selection: @kellangouveris @brad_gouveris and @rhys_burrell___

From there, the pace never let up. With no room for mistakes and every rider fighting for position, the final kilometres were raced at full gas.

Kellan once again showed his incredible run of form, sprinting to a hard-fought 2nd place, while Brad crossed the line in 5th overall, adding another valuable haul of Mzansi Series points to the team’s tally.

Another outstanding performance from the entire squad. Racing twice in one weekend, on opposite sides of the country, is no small ask. The commitment, resilience and depth shown by the whole team was exceptional.

Now it’s time to take a well-earned step back, recover, and reset before the lads turn their attention to the next big objectives of the season.

BLUE DIAMOND CLASSIC 2026 🏆

Off the back of another huge result last weekend, the boys headed north to Pretoria for the Blue Diamond Classic — a race we knew was likely to be fast, aggressive and ultimately decided by a big bunch sprint.

The opening 60 kilometres were full taps, with attacks coming thick and fast.

Eventually, @simonferreira.cst found himself clear with one other rider and put in an outstanding ride off the front. He came agonisingly close to making it all the way to the line, but with the other teams committed to the chase, the break was finally brought back inside the final few kilometres.

From there, it was all about positioning.
The lads delivered when it mattered, moving the entire team to the front ahead of the decisive final corner with just over a kilometre remaining.

@james_swart_ took control in the closing kilometre , delivering the perfect lead-in before handing it over to @brad_gouveris . Brad opened up the sprint and launched @kellangouveris into the final run to the line.

Kellan absolutely rocketed to victory, taking a brilliant win, with @rhys_burrell___ producing a huge sprint of his own to secure second overall. Brad rounded out the team’s dominant performance in 4th, while James finished strongly in 8th.

A complete team performance from start to finish — controlled, calculated and executed exactly when it mattered.

The result puts us back on top of the Mzansi National Road Series. What a ride from the lads.

LET’S GO, CARTIME! 🚀

BUILD IT STREET MILE

Fresh off a dominant road race victory, the boys lined up for the Street Mile with one objective: keep the winning streak alive.

A race we’ve never lost as a team — and today was no different.
From the very first metre, the team went straight onto the front and hit the race with everything. Brad set an immediate high tempo, making sure nobody could get alongside the team.

Simon took over and kept the pace pinned before Rhys launched the next attack, opening the sprint from a long way out and forcing the field onto the back foot.

Then came the final execution. James delivered a perfectly timed lead-out, setting up Kellan and Zane for the finish.
With the team completely controlling the race, Kellan hit the line first in dominant fashion, with Zane charging across the line in 3rd.

Another statement performance from the boys — back-to-back victories and a perfect weekend of racing. taken in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape by @kellangouveris

Said goodbye to one of my best friends this weekend.

Thank you for being the best companion a person could ever ask for. The very definition of a gentle giant and the kindest soul. We will miss your endless morning energy, your absolute zest for life, your random howling that went on and on which would always cause a chain reaction, your enthusiastic personality and your permanently muddy paws.

You have done an outstanding job as our leader and the rock that holds this chaotic household together. I hope there is plenty of garlic bread and toasted sandwiches on the other side. You will be forever missed.

Rest easy, Mohaske, my beautiful blue-eyed boy ❤️ by @kellangouveris
