My recent paintings on paper 🎨🖌️

I really love making these expressive floral landscapes. I just lay out my supplies, and look at some inspiration photos, but work mostly from intuition instead of direct reference. They feel so free and joyful to me 🌼 by @kelliejaynecreative

As soon as September hits every year I remember how much I LOVE sunflowers 🌻🌻🌻 I have to resist the urge to buy all the sunflowers in the grocery store.

They just give me that unexplainable end of summer feeling that is a mix of massive joy but also something bittersweet. by @kelliejaynecreative

I only had 8 minutes free before I left for work today, so I set a timer and pulled out my oil pastels for a super quick floral study!! 🌷 Sometimes you just gotta squeeze in the creative time wherever you can by @kelliejaynecreative

I’ve been wanting to work on a really BIG canvas lately, but somehow found myself drawn to these little baby wooden boards.

There is something nice about the instant gratification of starting and finishing two paintings in one session. When I work larger I typically finish a painting in 2-3 separate painting sessions because I’m waiting for layers to dry, or because I need to step away for a bit and come back with fresh eyes.

Once I finished these little guys, I did immediately start my biggest painting yet! It is still in the early stages but I can’t wait to share when it’s finished. ✨

These are available for sale! DM me for details if interested 🎨 taken in Lowell, Massachusetts by @kelliejaynecreative

Painting the wildflower gardens of my dreams 🌱 ☁️

Literally though, while I was sleeping I envisioned these white flowers and woke up knowing which paintbrush I needed to use to create them. I love when that happens.

Even though my paintings are quite loose and free, I actually do have a pretty clear vision of what I want the final piece to look like. Sometimes it’s a bit of a journey to get there, and it doesn’t always work out either. But this was one of those times where I had a clear idea and then it all came together!

This piece is acrylic and oil pastel on watercolor paper. DM me for details if you are interested in buying this painting. taken in Lowell, Massachusetts by @kelliejaynecreative
