When you went out trick or treating as a kid, did you reach for the M&M’s or the Skittles? A Milky Way or Gummy Bears.

Basically, are you Team Chocolate or Team Fruity?

This month we’ve teamed up with Kelly’s Cone Connection in Hamden Connecticut for two sundaes focused on that age old Halloween rivalry. Two sundaes, two flavor profiles.

Team #Chocolate has Good Stuff ice cream, a layer of M&Ms and crushed Oreo, and is topped with hot fudge, Sno Caps, chocolate crunchies and a Reese’s peanut butter bat.

Team #Fruity is strawberry ice cream with a layer of Nerds and Fruity Pebbles, topped with strawberry sundae sauce, gummy bears, Sour Patch Kids and a Halloween lollipop.

With each sundae you also get to pick a “prize” from the basket and we are encouraging patrons to vote for their favorites by placing tip money in the correct jar!

Ruby had a clear preference, snatching the Team Chocolate sundae and devouring it (even when presented with the option to eat from both!)

So which will you choose? Come to Kelly’s and cast your vote all through the month of October!

A little look back at Mylo’s 3rd birthday at Kelly’s Cone Connection & Glenwood Drive-in!🎈 3️⃣🍦🎂

His birthday wish was to have a party with his friends at an ice cream shop, and have a cake with strawberry 🍓 inside and soccer themed on the outside 😆 And with the help of Kelly’s & Glenwood, as well as some really great friends, we made his 3-year-old wishes come true 🥰🩵🎂🍦

Kelly’s is a longtime Hamden spot known for their homemade, small-batch ice cream, with tons of flavors, sundaes, soft serve and custom ice cream cakes 🍨

And Glenwood (attached/right next door!) is also a Hamden classic that’s been around for over 70 years and is known for their hot dogs, hot relish, lobster rolls + homemade onion rings. 🌭

Had a wonderful first visit to the beloved @kellysconeconnection yesterday :) I went specifically for the fourth and final special in a collab series with the incredible @thesidedishers . The New Haven Plain Apizza Slice. I had already been eager to try it, but after talking to Emily herself about it over the weekend, I couldn’t wait. Never mind the dozens of foodie friends who have told me get my butt over to Kelly’s!! 😂 To absolutely no surprise, it was pretty incredible.

Before I get into the treat, let me start by commending them on the ice cream itself. This creation featured strawberry basil, and I’m quite critical of strawberry ice cream normally. Even when shops avoid artificial flavor, it is often very sweet. Kelly nailed her’s. The basil came through very subtly, but perhaps had I taken more bites without the added strawberry sauce I would have picked that flavor up more. The ice cream was not overly creamy or heavy which I loved. Terrific texture. On to the dish as a whole. That delicious ice cream was loaded into a slice shaped waffle cone base with cocoa powder “char” underneath, then covered with strawberry sauce, grated white chocolate “parm”, and white chocolate “basil leaves”. Again, how they managed to keep this from becoming cloyingly sweet, something I’m sensitive to, is beyond me and extremely impressive. The flavors came together beautifully, and it was simply a super yummy and satisfying treat. The vibe at Kelly’s was welcoming and comfortable enough for me to actually sit enjoy my ice cream there, something I rarely do 🥰✨ I can see why they have such a large loyal fan base, and I’m happy to say I’m officially apart of it, too!

90s Kid Summer is still going strong and has anyone else just never outgrown their PBJ phase? I’m so obsessed with this flavor combo that I always try to recreate it when I get shakes and sundaes.

So when I heard that Kelly’s Cone Connection in Hamden, CT was doing PBJ and Fluffernutter-inspired ice cream sandwiches for back-to-school in the month of September, obviously I had to check it out.

I customized mine to be 50/50 both styles: one scoop of peanut butter and jelly ice cream with strawberry topping and one scoop peanut butter and fluff ice cream with marshmallow topping on a Whitney Donut “bun.”

I was in heaven, nostalgically reliving all the great PBJ moments of my childhood while simultaneously making a new one with Ruby.
