✨About me ✨

Hi 👋 I’m Kelly and I’m part of the @gcbaddiesbookclub

My Insta: @kellyscosybookcorner

I’ve loved reading books ever since the Babysitter’s Club books came out and R.L. Stine thought it was a good idea to scare impressionable little kids like me 🤪 My favourite series still to this day is the Vorkosigan Saga (think fourth wing in space).

I mainly read romance, fantasy and historical fiction. However since January this year when I discovered Fourth Wing, I am devouring all things romantasy (I know, I’m extremely late to the party where we simultaneously rage and wait patiently for Yarros to write the next book).

I’m a boy mum, autism mum and a tired mum. I love to join my kids playing pc games and don’t mind a bit of Palia, City Skylines and FPS’s myself. I retrained at 40 to get less money and do what society tells me is a glorified babysitter aka relief teacher, but I’m loving it and I love teaching students one on one until you almost hear their brain click the pieces all together 🙌 it’s the best. And society has it so wrong!

Fav genre: Romantasy
Book BF: Jamie Fraser and Casteel

Thanks for reading! If you got this far you’re an absolute legend. Drop a 🌈 or a 💜 in your comment below to show your legendary status ✨

Whatever you think you know about romantasy, throw it out the window! Whenever I had a thought like, ‘I can see where this book is heading because all romantasy series do this…’ we would take a sharp turn and be thrown into the unknown again.

Daughter of the Tempest is such an incredible book 2 by @braideeottobooks and my favourite of the Myths of the Empyrieos series so far.

It follows two female POV’s and takes you on the most unexpected journey. Our main girl, Aella, remains a strong, independent character and learns more about her hidden magic, her ancestry, discovers her found family, prophecies and let me tell you, the way she ‘finds herself’ at the end was so epic and so fitting. The love she has for her bestie Nyssa is everything! But also… Ares?! What an absolute legend! We need more Ares!!!

Nyssa’s POV going undercover was fantastic to read also, and the relationships she nurtured were the cause of many highlights in my Kobo! I’m so excited to see where her story goes too.

I honestly felt all the feels with this book. I was scared, tense, laughing, kicking my feet, in awe, heartbroken, stressed, and then I read the ending, which by the way was so action-packed and tense! How the heck is this going to be resolved in one more book?! Eeek! I’m so obsessed with this series and will be keen to read book 3 immediately!

Highly recommend this series if you love books like A Forbidden Alchemy, Shield of Sparrows, Heir of Fire and From Blood and Ash.

Happy release day to @anneka.rose.burrell_author for Meet Me After Life 👻

What a fun and surprisingly deep paranormal romance this was! I found our FMC Miller to be so relatable, never knowing what to say and feeling like either the world or yourself is sabotaging all your efforts 😮‍💨

It had a slow-burn romance, a ghost who keeps interfering with her dates, talking trees, possessed chickens and was so fun!

Also the plot twist changed the game… 👀

I’ve included a few of my favourite quotes to show you the fun and the zany, the sadness, the heartbreak and the love. Everything you can find in Anneka’s new book!

If you love your stories a little nutty, want a relatable, hot mess of an FMC and are keen for a ghost who loves to play pranks, then you’ll enjoy this one!

Thanks so much to Anneka for the ARC so we could read it for our bookclub 💗💗💗 @gcbaddiesbookclub xo you’re all so incredibly talented! Love you all taken in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia by @kellyscosybookcorner

Well well well… Starside by Alex Aster the audiobook had me hooked! Anthony Palmini and Vanessa Moyer were spectacular at delivering all the tension and emotion!

Loved the:
🌟 fantasy world, with monsters and dragons
🌟 enemies to lovers “hate me harder” Raker
🌟 epic tension and spice scenes which now live rent free in my brain
🌟 push and pull between them and their banter
🌟 who did this to you - with the best twist!!!

The quest could have been shorter, and I didn’t love her decision at the end of the book. It felt more like a setup for book 2, rather than a decision she would have made? And also, that last line was spoiled for me! I read it somewhere in a review and I was waiting for this key moment to happen, and to my horror, it was the last line 🤦‍♀️ please be careful with your reviews and mark them as spoilers for those of us who remember the most random things about books before we read them!!!

Still, I loved it and thought it was a super fun romantic fantasy story definitely worth read. I’m so excited to see where this one is going when book 2 Stormside is released in April next year!

What did you think of it? Or is it still on your TBR?

So I edited a book! When I said yes to editing Moonveil and Magic by Miss Sunshine herself - @amgold.author, I never expected:
* my friendship with @amgold.author and @dot.inthepages to deepen so much 🥰
* to be needing a cold shower after some scenes
* Amanda’s unwavering belief in me
* to be googling the most random things to make sure this book made sense and the grammar was 👌
* the joy I found in leaving comments for @amgold.author as I read her story
* to love the way she can write so descriptively in so few words 👏

nor did I realise:
* the time it would take me to edit 🐌 🧐 (I’m sorry 🫣)

Haha but in all seriousness, I just want to say a huge big thank you to Amanda for believing in me enough to take a chance on me and another big thank you to all of you who have followed along with my editing journey with this book 🫶

I hope you get the chance to read Moonveil and Magic one day 🤞🤞🤞

And I can’t wait to celebrate with you again Amanda, at your first ever book event today 🥳

Lastly, for anyone who has a dream to be an author… be like Amanda @amgold.author and write the damn book!

What are you waiting for? 👀
