✨ World Diabetes Day ✨
Today feels different for us. Our life with Type 1 diabetes has only just begun.

Last Saturday, our world flipped upside down. Logan was rushed to the ER at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, where she was diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and admitted to the PICU. She couldn’t walk, couldn’t stay awake for more than a few moments, her vision was blurry, and her breathing was… terrifying. (Kussmaul breathing, she was in distress.)

This has been the hardest week of our lives. The incredible team at Children’s worked around the clock. And our girl, our strong, graceful, beautiful warrior, responded quickly to insulin therapy and began waking up. Watching her fight her way back to us is something I’ll carry forever.

We came home on 11/11. The road ahead is big and unfamiliar. Logan is already giving herself insulin shots 4+ times a day, checking her blood sugar, doing the daily math and formulations, shifting her diet to support her Celiac and now also Diabetes. This is hard. Her resilience is honestly breathtaking.

The hospital prepared us for the worst. Logan showed us the best.

On World Diabetes Day, I’m holding extra gratitude for this girl of mine, for the care that saved her, and for the strength that’s carrying us into this new chapter. 💙 by @kellytiddes
