Enjoy these photos of Tom Chapin, the Grammy winner and folk music legend, during his recent performance at Yonkers’ Untermyer Garden Conservancy’s Minnie Untermyer Concert Series 2026. Tom Chapin & Friends performed a lovely outdoor concert on a beautiful summer evening, with the stunning backdrop of one of Westchester’s best hidden treasures, Untermyer Gardens. I’ve had the pleasure of being a photographer for Untermyer’s concert series again this summer. I’m in my second season of being a volunteer at Untermyer, serving as a greeter, a garden class participant, as well as a photographer there. The gardens are free to visit, and they are open year round. I highly recommend planning a visit to Untermyer Gardens if you find yourself anywhere near Yonkers, and it’s just a short trip from NYC. Two beautiful afternoons in a row, I was able to spend a few hours in nature enjoying some of the most beautiful spots in the lower Hudson Valley/Westchetser County. Yesterday was the open house at Blue Hill at Stone Barns. We got to tour the grounds, partake in culinary demonstrations, sample their food, peruse the marketplace, and watch the bumblebees collecting pollen in their flowerbeds. Then today I took a garden tour at Lasdon Gardens (@lasdonpublicgardens) with my fellow @untermyergardens volunteers and walked so many acres taking in beautiful specimens of roses and trees, their rolling meadows with wildflowers and the greenhouse with tropical plants. Two perfect summer days in the Westchetser sunshine. I’ve been eager to share my Costa Rica photos for weeks now, but other projects kept getting prioritized. The trip to Costa Rica was something I wanted to do for years, and while much of the trip involved practicing yoga in a beautiful new environment, I found I was so inspired by the wildlife constantly surrounding us! I spent many hours photographing the wildlife in Costa Rica , which was definitely a challenge to capture with the dense foliage and constantly moving subjects, especially on a camera that is not my primary tool. I chose to bring a Sony mirrorless camera which is lightweight for travel and great in low light situations. Some of these photos were taken on the property where the retreat took place (@nereusretreats), some are from the beach just a short walk from Nereus, and some are from Corcovado National Park. Pictured are scarlet macaws, spider monkeys, a hermit crab, the retreat dog, a toucan, a howler monkey, and another native bird. It was absolutely magical to spend this much time taking in so much of Keith Haring’s artwork this weekend. I have been a massive Keith Haring fan for as long as I can remember. I was lucky enough to know and appreciate his work while he was still alive in the late 80’s, when I was just a kid. Gone way too soon, he was a prolific artist, and part of the joy of his work was that it was so accessible to the public. Today, I saw works of his that I didn’t even know existed, and I was able to appreciate his genius that much more. Last night I saw part of his former Pop Shop installation at the NY Historical Society, today I saw a ton of his early work at the Brandt Foundation downtown, and then lastly a panel discussion and an exhibition of his painted car (was supposed to be cars plural 😩) at the Cart Dept this afternoon. Finally downloaded & edited the Costa Rica 🇨🇷 photos from my pro camera 📸. This was a my second trip to Costa Rica and it was nice to see some different terrain (very mountainous here!) from my first visit two years ago to the Osa Peninsula. I could have spent the entire trip just photographing the wildlife in Manuel Antonio Park and the surrounding areas! Landscapes in Costa Rica are beautiful too, but the monkeys and other animals are my favorite to photograph. My 100-400 mm lens came in clutch, even though it’s a bear to lug around! Photos are mostly of capuchin monkeys, but also a sloth, an anteater, lizards, a pelican, a woodpecker in a hollow coconut tree, and a sweet old pup. What an incredible adventure I had in Costa Rica! We had an amazing group of 11 women, led by @sunshinesurfretreats and @rivertownssupyoga. We hiked, surfed, paddleboarded, ziplined, repelled down a waterfall, explored the terrain, practiced yoga, ate amazing food, observed exotic animals, learned about the culture, and made deep friendships. I’ve been lucky enough to go on a few women-focused retreats before, but this was on a whole new level. We pushed ourselves to the limit, tried so many new things, and bonded as we helped each other push through our fears to overcome obstacles. If you watch my stories, you may have noticed that the focus of my business has changed somewhat since the pandemic. I’ve quietly retired from wedding photography, and now much of my time is spent doing corporate freelance photography 📸, but I still make plenty of time for photographing sweet moments like this engagement session with Brian and Anshu, as well as capturing portraits of wonderful families, and photographing small joyous events. I have always loved finding the unique candid moments in scenic locations and will always be there for my loyal clients who have been there for every step of the journey for my small business.
