We’re onto our next great adventure… parenthood! On October 27th at 8:39am we got to meet our little princess for the first time. Olivia Elizabeth Moreira 6lb 14oz of pure joy! A feeling you truly can’t describe. We love her more than anything in the whole world and are cherishing this time as a new family of 3! Thank you to our doula, Kali Shanti Park of Mama Matters, who both helped me make it through the most transformational experience of my life AND took these breathtaking photos in the moments after Olivia joined us. HIGHLY recommend working with Kali if you’re looking for a doula or birth photography services in East Texas. Thank you for making it so special for us. Last week my doctor stopped mid-appointment and yelled “YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU WERE ON SHARK TANK!” Here’s what most people don’t know: I left the tank without a deal for Doughp, and it wrecked me. I took a mental health day, pulled myself back together... and then never watched the full episode again. Not once. But she was so excited to talk about it and asked to see it. So I went to find the video. And then I did something I hadn’t done in seven years… Even as I’m about to lose this company I built, I watched it. And I was 👏 SO PROUD OF HER! 👏 That younger version of me was a few days past her 3rd sober birthday when we filmed. 🍪 She was so confident. 🍪 She knew her numbers cold. 🍪 She stood in front of five billionaires and told the whole world she was a recovering alcoholic, on national television, because she thought it might help somebody. 🤧 It actually did. A woman messaged me after it aired. She had lost her son to addiction a few months before. She told me Shark Tank was the only show she could stand to watch, and that seeing me talk about my sobriety that night felt like a message from him. I will never forget that as long as I live. That’s the season we kicked off #Doughp4Hope. And for nine years we got to keep saying it, one spoonful at a time: it’s okay to not be okay, there’s joy on the other side of addiction, and you can ask for help. I’m 11 years sober now. 💜 And I’d be lying if I said the idea of Doughp closing didn’t hurt. But watching that clip back, I don’t have a single regret. We built something real. We touched lives I’ll never even know about. Not a bad run for a girl who just liked making cookie dough. 🍪 If you know someone who might want to carry this brand forward, DM us. ELEVEN. YEARS. ✨ What a gift it is to live this life fully present for all it has to offer. I wouldn’t want to miss a single second. The decision to stop drinking eleven years ago today still tops the lists as one of my best choices EVER. 10/10 Highly recommend. If you’re considering getting sober…. DO IT. We’re having another baby. 🤍 If you’ve followed along, you know over the last two years we experienced three pregnancy losses. What you didn’t see was how hard I was gripping the whole time: the endless hormone testing, the tracking, the early morning temperature checks, the spreadsheets, the trying to control every single variable as if I could force this into being. In April, Israel and I finally did the one thing I’ve never been good at. We stopped. We surrendered it. We decided to trust God with the outcome, whatever it was going to be… even if the answer was no. And then things started happening I still can’t fully explain. A high school friend I hadn’t spoken to in ages sent me a jar of Bible verses and a book on prayer. Minutes after Iz and I had a raw conversation about faith and doubt, she texted out of nowhere: “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.” (Luke 17:19) Days later, Iz was leaving Olivia’s room and he saw a slip of blue paper out of the corner of his eye — one of a hundred in that little verse jar. He opened it. Psalm 113: “He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children.” He came to show me with tears in his eyes. And then a few days later our two-year-old, completely unprompted, walked up and put her hands on my belly, and said “Mama, you have a baby in your belly” and leaned down to kiss it. We hadn’t said a word to her. We let go and let God. And the next month we found out we were pregnant. Today I’m 12 weeks along. The screenings are showing us a healthy, growing baby. And more than anything I feel grateful — for this baby, for Olivia, for Iz, and for a journey back to faith that helped me stop trying to do it all myself. I’m not sharing this to say I did it right. I’m sharing it because letting go was the hardest and most healing thing I’ve ever done, and someone out there gripping as hard as I was might need to hear it.
