@mammothtrailfest 50k! Our local race turned incredible 2 week production. Set a 50k PR and also ran 78 minutes faster than last year 🏃🏽‍♀️💨 @krrcubed @julianstueve and @krissyclimbs were amazing cheerleaders and bottle fillers. Saw a huge bear 10 feet away. I missed the kids crush their 1k, but I’m sure they’ll be back! Next year it’s all about volunteering and the party 10k 🪩 this is your sign to sign up for some @mammothtrailfest magic! ✨🫶🏼 taken in Mammoth Lakes, California by @kelsey_outside

Sign up for the scary things, you might surprise yourself! @trailverbierstbernard X-Traverseé ✅ 49 miles, 17,200ft gain, 17,500ft descent, 18 hours 19 minutes. The most beautiful and epic day ever! There were over 1400 people in my event which resulted in conga lines up and down but also shared laughs, snacks, sweat, and tears. Never have I ever gone up a mountain so steep just to go back down something steeper and repeat x5… and keep smiling. There were crazy cows, alphorn concerts, spaghetti aid stations, a swinging suspension bridge, and insane mountain huts. Thank you Mom for crewing me, @krissyclimbs @krrcubed @ittybittywhittyyy for getting me primed and physically ready, and everyone who followed along at home 🥹 my goal was to finish and it resulted in a top 50% finish! I guess I can kinda hang with the crazy Euro mountain goats now 🦵🏼🏔️👣🏃🏽‍♀️ could have finished sooner if I didn’t stop to take so many pictures… taken in Verbier, Switzerland by @kelsey_outside

11 days out on the Nüümü Poyo / John Muir Trail. Snow passes, raging rivers, wet feet, and snow thunderstorms followed by friends, fresh pizza, sunshine, and lake lounging ✨ I was stubborn to go out early and think I could crank out continuous 20+ mile days. I learned I don’t like hiking for 15 hours a day, early wake ups, not talking to anyone to all day for multiple days, and changing out of my shoes to my water crossing sandals. It sounded fine planning it from the couch…living it is another story. When you have a 30 pound backpack, find good company and enjoy the wilderness 🤗🏔️🌲

How lucky are we,
To adventure sky and sea,
Laughing, learning, (mostly) carefree,
Entwined so happily.

Celebrating @kelsey_outside's 31st, with family, new friends, and plenty of airtime. 🇬🇧🇹🇷🇪🇸🪂

2024 was… WOW! I fell in love with ultra running and ran 3 races, turned 30, graduated with my Master’s, moved to Mammoth, celebrated 5 years as a flight nurse, took my mom to Europe, crossed the Arctic Circle, stared at the highest point and most northern point of Europe (different places), participated in Yosemite bike day, paraglided, ran, and ate through the Alps, went to my first gala, watched Kirby crush his paragliding competitions, and did not catch any cod in Norway. Also managed to stay off the operating table. Not featured in the highlights: sprained ankles, anxiety from work/school/life, nights spent flying around the state in turbulence, countless long drives, medical bills, and other things I’ve already blocked out 🤣 I’m inspired by all of you on my feed and look forward to everyone’s adventures in the new year! 🥰 taken in Mammoth Lakes, California by @kelsey_outside

Well well well… a 50 mile day in the books! Having only been consistently running since February this seemed on the verge of impossible. I trusted my training, kept my head up (and eyes down on the rocks 😂), and gave my all to Moab! 50 miles/11 hours 20 min. Up next is Black Canyon 100K 😳

Come run 20 Mammoth miles with me! 🏃🏼‍♀️💨🏔️
Running has become a big part of my life. During my endo surgery recovery last year, I needed something to focus on besides my endo… and if you know me, you know I’ve gotta go big. So, I decided to sign up for 2 ultra marathons. This gave me something to research, plan, train, and obsess over. I dedicated my first 50k race to endometriosis research and you guys helped me raise $3,000! I learned a ton from my first race and loved the community around it. My second race is a few weeks away but I’ve already signed up for longer distances for the fall and spring (typical me). I started working with @cts_ultrarunning and @bri.rose.runs 6 months ago and have no plans to turn back! I don’t have a running background and never ran a marathon before this, but I have become addicted to pushing the body and mind to its limit and then some. See you on the trails!

May was quite the whirlwind!! Started with a family camping trip in Santa Barbara, then turned the big ✨3-0✨, and next was my first ultramarathon! Turns out I kind of like running 🤪. Kirby and I hobbled on a plane the next day to spend 2 weeks in the Alps! We had snow and rain but still managed to paraglide, trail run, and spend time in some majestic mountains 🏔️ taken in Chamonix, France by @kelsey_outside

This year was full of my typical adventures but also a new journey began; endometriosis. On July 4th I went to the ER with crippling pelvic pain and so began my new life with a chronic illness. They found an endometrioma/chocolate cyst the size of my fist engulfing my right ovary. I had laparoscopic surgery to remove the cyst but inside my surgeon found all my abdominal organs glued together with endometriosis. What was supposed to be a quick cyst removal ended up a 4 hour scraping of my organs to rid the cement that has built up and caused me so much pain. A longer than expected recovery was followed by a colonoscopy, esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), cystoscopy (bladder), CT scan, vaginal ultrasounds, and another trip to the ER. As I’m currently attempting to train for an ultramarathon, my last run I couldn’t make it past 1 mile without feeling like I was going to pass out, puke, poop, or all 3. I had a new fist sized endometrioma on my other ovary now that grew in just 5 months. This week I had robotic assisted surgery for cyst removal and cement clean up. I have stage 4 / deep infiltrative endometriosis, which there is no cure, only symptom management, (typically surgery). Behind my adventures you see are painful periods, bleeding through my clothes, stomach ulcers from the large amounts of ibuprofen to deal with the pain, medical bills, extreme fatigue and bloating, urine retention and stopping to pee frequently, long bouts of inactivity, just to name a few things. Im hopeful for this next year having a new specialist surgeon, a pelvic physical therapist, hormones, and knowledge on my side. I smile, joke, and stay positive because I know nothing else. I have decided to dedicate my first Ultramarathon to raising awareness and money for the Endometriosis Foundation of America. Endometriosis is a whole body disease that affects 200 million women worldwide with minimal research, unknown cause, and no cure. I am sick of women’s health being pushed aside and told that’s just how your body works. It is not normal for anyone to have pain anywhere. Please advocate for yourself and the women in your life 💜 link in bio
