So excited to say that Convalescence is almost ready to be published. This book will take you on a journey through so many different emotions; it is beautiful, heartbreaking, and empowering all at once. Convalescence means to gradually recover after a period of sickness or weakness; in this story, I reflect on my mental health journey and the various ways that events in my life have shaped who I am today. I share this with the hope that it resonates with someone and gives them a reason to hold on. The journey hasn’t been easy by any means, but I am strong enough to make it through the storm… and so are you. If you are struggling with your mental health, talk to someone; there are so many people in this community who are willing to listen and help. You are stronger than your demons, greater than your biggest fears, and more powerful than the ones who made you feel weak. You are never alone.

I also want to add that after a long time of looking through other self publishing routes, I have unfortunately decided to use Amazon KDP again. This is a decision I’ve thought a lot about, and I did not make it lightly. As a small artist, sometimes the capitalist economy is unavoidable. I’m making the decision to donate some of the profits from Convalescence to various protest organizations in the US, climate action organizations, and humanitarian aid groups. If you know me, you know that this is something I care very deeply about. I have some organizations in mind, but if you guys know of any reputable places to donate, please send me a message! Silence accomplishes nothing, except complicity… and I will not stay silent.

birthmarks are in this season (and every season!)

ever since i was born, i’ve had a huge birthmark on my left leg. when i was in elementary school, sometimes people would mistake it for a giant bruise because it’s blue/purple. i used to be very insecure about it, and throughout my childhood and young teenage years, i wanted to get laser removal treatment to get rid of it. but since then, i’ve learned to embrace my differences, and because of that, i’ve actually become connected to my birthmark; i could never dream of getting it removed now. it’s unique to me and only me… it also reminds me of a blue/purple galaxy — and if you know me, you know i love space 🌌

all this to say — if you’re looking for a sign to love yourself just as you are, this is it. the most radical thing you can do in a world full of cosmetic surgery is to be your authentic self (and not give a single fuck while doing it)
