New Album Release!🎊 Clarinetist James Townley Shields makes his recording debut with “Cookbook: Works by Kenji Bunch”.

Shields’s debut recording brings together his artistry as a clarinetist with the music of acclaimed American composer and violist Kenji Bunch. The album features Shields with pianist Monica Ohuchi, the New York City–based string quartet The Overlook, and Bunch on viola.

“This recording is the result of the dedication of a group of people who share a commitment to building the discography of classical music and to reminding the world that ours is a living art form.” — James Townley Shields

“Cookbook” has been selected in this week’s @Spotify Classical New Release! Congratulations to everyone involved! 🚀🎊👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I know- what even are CDs, but I gotta say holding this in my hand after all these years of hard work by so many people to make this thing happen is pretty darn special.

It’s not officially out in the world yet so I won’t go crazy with the promo, but just a quiet personal fist pump over here for this moment. More to come! by @kenjibunch

You can study something in music school thinking you’ll be playing it your whole career… and then 30 years goes by and you realize you’ve never actually performed it live in public!

For me it was that one Bach cello suite with the funky tuning. Grateful to have the chance to finally roll it out for the Craftsbury Chamber Players this past week. Thank you and goodbye for now, dear Vermont! by @kenjibunch
