Happiest birthday AND album release day to the light of my goddam life @leah_lavigne I love you so damn much!!!! 💚 This past year was hard, to say the least. But during those dark and difficult moments, when I was scared and sad and felt alone, Leah was always there by my side. I’ve never felt so truly and fully loved and supported in my life 🥹 To see her bring her new album into the world this year has been so inspiring. Her dedication to her craft, her immense empathy for the world and people’s stories, her thoughtfulness, her limitless passion. Couldn’t be more proud to celebrate her and this album tonight and every other night 😘 by @kennethkmonroe

Spending some today thinking about my mom and how much I wish she was still here. Seven months later and the loss still feels so palpable. There are so many complex feelings that come up when I sit down and really focus on her, try to picture her, remember what her voice sounded like, and I will spend years untangling those feelings. For today, though, I’m just trying to focus on the fact that she was an amazing woman and mother and I miss talking to her, confiding in her, seeing her. I’m also trying to reach even further back in my memory, must be over 25 years now, to when my grandma (on my dad’s side) was still with us. Her warmth and tenderness still stand unmatched, a true angel on earth. I’m honoring her today and all that she imparted to my mom, who in turn imparted to me. by @kennethkmonroe

This will forever be the year when I lost my mother, and next year will forever be the first year I live without her. I will forever be trying to understand what her life meant, what my life means in her absence. I will forever be wishing many things, that she was still here, that I’d had a child before she died, that her death had been quicker and more merciful, that I had recorded just a few of our many conversations, that I had understood better the mundane and anticlimactic despair of death prior to her passing. I will be forever grateful for the time I did spend with her, for her boundless aptitude for friendship and love, her open-mindedness and compassion, her spirit and perseverance, her poetry and art, her humor, her unconditional love and support.

She never told me how long she had, I think in an effort to preserve hope and manifest recovery. I learned later, after she was gone, that the doctors had given her 18 months to live, and she made it about 19 and a half. It was a hard fought 19 and half months. Three brain surgeries, one round of radiation treatment, multiple rounds of chemo. There were tenuous stretches of hope in which she thought she was cured, and other stretches when death seemed inevitable. Through it all, she remained herself, and I will be forever hoping she passed along that profound strength to me.

I’m a little late here, but I must properly commemorate this album. These songs by @jbuschardt are heart wrenching and beautiful and cathartic, and I will never ever get sick of listening to them. In early 2022 I had returned to making music after an 8 year hiatus, and one of the first things I did was head out to rural Jersey with @jbuschardt @jrfo & @etakreyom to record this record with @communityoflivingthings and @alexsalter at @theanimalfarmnj and damn, what an incredible way to dive back into music after such a long time away. Long live @sharkswimmerband 🙏 by @kennethkmonroe

Big day today 🏀 FINALLY @bandsketballin_bk at @18thwardbrewing 🏀 games start at 1pm and we'll be going til around 7pm 🏀 rain is gone and the sun is shining 🏀 had a blast planning this one w/ @consumables.bk @monogramsmusic @bandsdobk & @showbrain_ and diving deeeeeep into NBA jam graphics 🏀 come on out and let's raise a little money for @williemaerockcamp and play some basketball! by @kennethkmonroe
