Here is a gem of a video of Papa (the one with the hair growth challenges) and one of his friends at Bomac fooling around on the job one day.

Papa's career was as a retoucher (manual Photoshop) and I am often told how wonderful all his friends were.

They sure look like fun. I wish there was a little more footage Papa's jig at the end. 🕺 by @kentdeconde

My Papa, Kent de Condé (1905-1998) grew up on the streets of Montreal in St. Henri, a working class neighborhood where his parents owned a small corner store. His date with his artist destiny was in 1927, when he met his future wife, Evelyn. He decided then that he needed a job which could someday support a family, so he turned to retouching, a skill that was the forerunner to Photoshop.

He spent the next 40 years at Bomac, a commercial art and engraving company, where he was one of several artists who became friends and began spending their weekends traveling through Quebec and painting landscapes, much like the Group of Seven. When he retired in 1965 he began painting full time and painted virtually every day until his death in 1998.

Later in life, Kent spent part of each year in Nova Scotia with his son's family. In this time he had the chance to paint a different Canadian landscape and would always have his sketch pad with him.

Papa was a funny, kind man who liked a good joke almost as much as he loved painting his beloved Quebec. by @kentdeconde
