Go Jody!!!! The first Hän Gwich’in woman to ever compete in the Iditarod race!!

Jody and her team of 16 amazing dogs, wearing incredible hand made traditional beaded dog blankets made by Native women from Alaska, Canada, and the lower 48, are headed 1,000 miles to Nome.

FUNDRAISER for my sweet, warrior niece Mia, and all those with the Glut1 rare disease. Link in Bio ❤️

For the next 8 days we are raising funds for the annual Love Some1 with Glut1 campaign on behalf of Mia. Since her diagnosis this organization has meant a lot to our family. Today your donation will be matched by a generous donor!

Mia was diagnosed with Glut1 Deficiency Syndrome a few months before her first birthday. She started the Medical Ketogenic Diet shortly after receiving her diagnosis. This is currently the only treatment for Glut1 as it aims to use ketone bodies instead of glucose to fuel her brain and body. While Mia has seen benefits from being on the diet, ketones are an imperfect replacement for glucose. She is developmentally delayed compared to other kids her age. But each day she works hard and makes progress. This year she started walking independently ♥️

Rare disease research is hard - there are limits and obstacles at nearly every turn and it is extremely underfunded. Rare disease diagnoses often leave families overwhelmed with the task of raising the funds that go to improving and saving the lives of the people they love.

This year we are raising funds for life-changing clinical trials for promising new treatments! Your donation will help fully fund these trials! These clinical trials represent a crucial step toward progress and potential new treatments.
