Four years ago my life changed completely when I came to the National Glass Center to study a degree in glass and ceramics.

Sadly, losing my Dad to Alzheimer's last year and my Mum's dementia diagnosis meant I couldn't complete my MA as planned, but the lovely tutors, technicians and my fellow students let me put a piece of my work into the final ever MA Exhibition 'Conclusion', so I still felt part of this special world that helped get me through some tough times.

Today the show was packed away and the doors closed on the National Glass Center for the final time and I took home the last piece of art I'll ever make there.

It was an absolute honor to have been even a tiny piece of its history.

Thank you to all the staff and my friends upstairs and downstairs for being so positive and wonderful right till the end. I'll miss you all.

Love my new artist photo taken by David @imagesofglass

Thank you so much!

(I never look this nice without makeup IRL! Can someone follow me around everywhere with the good lighting please?)

It was sooooo thick! More practice needed.

Any top tips to help me crack this are very welcome.

A tiny parakeet (thumb for scale) in polymer clay to sit on top of my porcelain lion (pics to follow).

I'm a bit in love with him. If he wasn't needed to be part of a piece of work examining British exceptionalism around immigration, he's make a cracking necklace!

Help needed!!!

How is this looking? I pulled up the rim too much and made it too thin and there's a bit much in the walls at the base, but other than that it's perfect, no?!

Any feedback would be gratefully accepted ☺️

All the hours of sculpting and underglazing... And this is the result.

Anyone want a kind-of-cat-shaped vase???

WIP

I'm underglazing at leather hard so I can put on an oxide wash after bisque to bring out the details.

This needs 3 coats of underglaze to get a good solid colour.

Hours and hours of fun!

Meet Tony Caramel...

(Yes, I am appropriating @realbobmortimer cat names. How much do I owe you Bob?)

He's in disguise in his dragon onesie.

Hopefully he makes it through the drying and firing cycles. He's quite a dish.

Finally finished! A small maquette for a new series of work.

This little porcelain barista started as a middle of the night thought. I wanted to recreate historical porcelain figurines that would have been made to commemorate celebrated British people - usually men, usually rich.

My version looks at who we elevate and why... So here's to all the zero-hours heroes, often working 2 or more jobs while juggling family life.

It's the first in a planned series, including care workers, delivery drivers and warehouse packers.

Who else deserves a sculpture? What do you think?

How to make a glass and ceramics sea-swimmer for anyone daft enough to try...

This process took months and I tested lots of versions of the legs that you don't see in this video.

Enjoy my pain, heartbreak and frustration in 45 seconds! Special thanks to @suziesmithdesigns for her help getting plastered!#ceramics #sculpture #sculptureart #figurativeart #glassart taken in National Glass Centre by @kerry.roffe
