POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Last year, our friend Anna Trundle from @keepcocbr made a warm introduction to some people with an under-utilised building CBD - City Walk Centre at 131 City Walk.

As the real estate agent showed me through, I imagined studios where there was a concrete floor and beautiful natural light, a workshop space where there was enough space for people to spread out, a gig space in that kind of strange room that could definitely be made cozy, film screenings in the room with the 8m white wall we could project onto, a little room where we can run our artist support sessions, coworking space for artists in the room that’s already fit-out for it, offices for small creative businesses, a street gallery in the little room on the ground floor with the big windows, and hundreds of people playing music and dancing on the rooftop courtyard.

YAH started a partnership with @blank.platform to make all this a reality. We negotiated our way into the building, and launched in March. Since then, we’ve had dozens of artists in the building, creating and sharing their work (tagged in the comments below!)

We know Canberra needs this - space and support to experiment, develop, and grow. We’ve only witnessed a fraction of what’s possible, and we’re determined to build something enduring and sustainable here at 131 City Walk.

If you want to be a part of building it with us, please donate to our EOFY fundraising campaign, link in bio!!

Donations over $2 are tax deductible. Every donation counts, no matter the size. Every donation sends a message that our community supports our work and wants space for art right in the heart of the city.

If you can’t donate this year but want to support us, please share our campaign. It closes at midnight Tuesday 30 June.

Thank you to every legend who has already donated, and to all of you who have been a part of You Are Here. We are beyond grateful to all of you!

Hope to see you at 131 City Walk soon.

Love,
Ket, Nick & Janhavi

We (Ket & Nick) are incredibly proud of the Cahoots residency program we developed. We are determined to give as many artists and producers as possible access to our Cahoots framework. It's a process for developing their practice while simultaneously building a creative community that can rigorously support and critique each other.

So, we're making a DIY version - the Cahoots Manual! It will make the process available to any creatives who want to be in Cahoots.

Translating a program like Cahoots, which we facilitated in a very hands-on way, into a written document that people can use as a guide to forming and self-facilitating their own little artist gangs, is a fun-but-big challenge! It's a process that will take time and attention to get right, and we need your help to ensure we have enough paid hours to do the work!

If you want to donate to support us to do this work, or read more about it, please follow the link-in-bio to our Australian Cultural Fund campaign! by @ket_budd

YAH GALAH : WRAPPED

15 years of YAH : celebrated ✔️
Cahoots Lab : launched ✔️

Pictured : YAH Creative Director, Ketura Budd with Senior Producer, Nick Delatovic.

A note from Robyn Archer:

“In the Arts, there are so many things we do that are utterly fleeting. In many ways the very transitory nature of what we do is key to the magic we create.

While we can record and pass on version of the original in so many ways, I know the reality is in the moment - my brain connects to my singing voice and creates waves of sound that reach your ears that then connect to your brain - and it’s over.

We live in the moment.

That’s why it amazes me when any of the things we make happen actually have a longer life.

When I came to Canberra to direct the Centenary celebrations, people were still saying there were no young artists in Canberra.

By extending an invitation to David Finnigan to prove them wrong - and he extending that invitation to Yolande Norris - YOU ARE HERE was born.

Over the last 15 years, that simple moment , through various gradually evolving platforms, has led to so many opportunities for so many young creators.

Congratulations to all that have been in cahoots on this mission from the start to the present. May Canberra continue to allow young artists to create and inspire.”

Today I found my own personal heaven - a greenhouse full of cactuses in the Wollongong Botanic Gardens on Dharawul Country.

Walking inside is like entering a vacuum, the air is completely still, it’s quiet and dry. I didn’t know this place existed, I just wandered in by chance, in my little overalls covered in cactuses with my little cactus tattoo.

When I visited Arizona in 2019, I fell in love with cactuses and I see them as a symbol for some things I want to be- tough, resilient, patient, wild.

The iconic saguaro cactus can grow for 60-100 years before arms appear. This perseverance, in such harsh conditions, is so inspiring to me. I got my tattoo to remind me to persever, even when it’s hard 🌵 taken in Wollongong, New South Wales by @ket_budd

SELLING MY BELOVED VAN

The time has come for my 2003 Mercedes Sprinter to join a new loving owner.

Under 117,000 kms on the clock, brand new tyres and battery, runs like a champ, rego til May 2024, minimal rust, body and driving cabin still in great condition. Selling for $30K, negotiable.

I’ve done some absolutely amazing travel in this van and never had any issues on the road. Also I lived in it very comfortably for almost 3 years!

Due to a knee injury and surgery this year I never quite got to putting the finishing aesthetic touches on the interior, but it is absolutely functional and has everything you need to hit the road straightaway, including bed, second battery to run a Waeco fridge, little slide out set up with gas camp stove, kitchen equipment, storage, camp shower, fly screens, curtains, insulation and more.

Feel free to DM me if you’re interested or pass on to anyone else who might be keen! Can send more pics of the interior too.
